1997 z28 shock removal

ok so i want to change my shocks it is going to be over the weekend and as it looks i only need to un bolt the bottom and then the top slids out is that corret if not plz tell me how.

Neither the front or the rear will come out just by unbolting the bottom.

This is for a QA1 shock install, but basic info is the same for stock type shocks.

The rears have a bolt on the top holding them into the body in the hatch. I just put new bilsteins in my car, it was a pain to get the bolts out of the top.
