1997 Camaro Z28 LT1 brake upgrade to LS1 brakes help.

OK so I have everything to upgrade my 1997 Z28 front brakes to the better LS1's.
I'm going to put steal braided lines on it and would like to know what would be the best way to do it?
I have a hydraulic shop by me that will make the lines up for me.
I was thinking of giving them the LS1 brake lines and just telling them how much longer to make them.
I'm guessing that the will reuse the ends?
And If so how how much longer than the stock ones do I need to make them.
Thanks,

Chris G.

I used LS1 brake lines and bent the hard line sideways. The difference is that on the LT1s it mounted pointing up, and on the LS1s its pointing to the side at an angle. Eather make the LS1 lines about 3" longer or bend the stock hard line and modify the bracket that will hold it.
This is stock:

This is the LS1 setup with the modifyed bracket and bent line:

Its easy to see what needs to be done once you have the wheel off but if you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

So the easiest way is to make the LS1 lines about 3" longer?
Are you sure about the 3 inches making the lines is not cheap but cheaper than buying them.

Thanks,

The easiest way I found is to buy C5 vette lines... they're about 3" longer and supposedly don't require any modification to the stock mounting point. Mine should be in today or tomorrow and at that point I'll let you know how it works out. I wasn't keen on bending up my hard lines (I don't have the tools) so this seemed like the way to go.

The metal is fairly soft and flexable, i used my hands to bend it.

At least 3" longer then the LS1 lines i would guess, but wait until Dave is done and maybe you can save some money buying the C5 lines instead of a custom set.

Just installed the C5 lines... they are long enough to go lock to lock without undue stress, you could even get by with another inch over the C5 length (which is 15" if they're 3" longer than stock lt1). I bent the mounting bracket by maybe 10 degrees to give them just a bit more room at full lock... another inch and I wouldn't have needed to even do that much.

C5 lines work great, you just have to grind off a couple of mounting tangs on the line. And you dont need braided line unless you want the bling... It will do nothing for the performance of your street car.

Yup I got the braided ones you recommended... they were a well known name and I could buy fronts only which is all I wanted.
