1973 suspension
1973 suspension
I want to upgrade my suspension with a touring/drag. I know for sure I want coilovers in the front and rear. My biggest question is where can I find replacement springs for the rear? And if I am replacing the shocks and springs should I relpace the leaf springs also? Also is there a big 2nd gen suspension company or website? Thanks

Re: 1973 suspension
I think I remember reading about a Hotchkis kit for the second gens. They built a touring/lowered early 70's Z28 which was featured in a few magazines about a year ago or so. Might be a starting point for you, good luck.
Re: 1973 suspension
Id reccomend changing out all 4 springs, as well as doing a rebuild kit on the front suspensioni. It will restore the cars feel and handling way above what the 30 year old componets that came stock on the car are capable of.

Is a good vendor for either stock or performance suspensions for 2nd gen camaros. If you want to go all out you can even get a transverse leaf spring set up for 2nd gens similar to that on the Vettes from these guys, it gets pricey though.

Is a good vendor for more stock like applications. I used a rubber bushing rebuild kit to rebuild the front suspension on my 77 and also ordered new coil and leaf springs from them. The car rides great. My '77 isnt set up for handling by anymeans though, just crusing from point A to point B. They also sell poly bushings, sways etc.

SteveO thanks for the sites that was what I was looking for.
One more question. I finally got a chance to look over the car and are my rear shocks suspose to have springs over them. If they are how come nobody sells the rear springs for my year(73)? I can't find them any where.

Re: 1973 suspension
I have both right now. I thought it should be one or the other. But I have leaf springs and a non adjustable coilover shock in the rear. I don't know if the rear stock or not but it is a 10 bolt. And the spring over the rear shock is really small. It is not much wider than the shock its self. I will take some pics in a little while.
