170,000 on orig rotors

I've been itching to change the brakes (1996) to something with significant improvement, but my old ones just seem to work forever. I'm at the point where I could just slap another set of pads on and get away with it at minimal cost. I'm just running out of spendable money that I want to continue to put into this car.

What good, low cost, alternatives exist that deliver significant improvement. I'd like to do something that's less than $500.

do what i did , I replaced all my rotors with new cross drilled & slotted for $140 bucks on EBAY , after 1 year no cracks . Slotted only will work just as good and less prone to crack . Cermic brake pads from same seller for $70 bucks .

i felt i have alot more steady brake feel and overall stops better , And No more or Very little brake dust , rims stay clean . at half the cost you wanted to spend . .

P.s. after 7 ,000 miles and one year these pads worn maybe 2-3 32nd's of a inch , with my lead foot . cermic smells differnt too .

I bought everything for the ls1 upgrade from a f-body salvage yard for $120, the rotors and pads seemed to be in good shape too, but I went ahead and got new ones. They stop about the same as my lt1 brakes with EBC green stuff pads. If i put EBCs on the ls1 brakes, they'd probably stop even better, but Im using morse ceramics from autozone. but for $500, there's probably better options out there.

rotors/pads from summit

I just replaced the front/rear rotors and pads. Got the summit brand slotted/cross drilled rotors and EBC green stuff pads. didn't cost that much and they work great so far. Put the same combo on the ladies 2000 mustang and after a year they still work great. And she beats the crap out of the car.

I got complete LS1 front brake assemblies for a 150 bucks and they had brand new pads and rotors on them already. Something like that would be a good bang for the buck brake upgrade.
