Thunder Racing Hurricane Update #2 08/30/05

Well we all faired pretty well through the storm. We only lost the sign off the front of the building but no structual or water damage.

The bad part: We still do not have any electric or phone at this time. They are working hard and trying to get us up and running today. We apologize for any inconvienence this has caused and we have the full crew at the shop waiting for the minute the power comes up.

We'll keep everyone updated on the progress.

Re: Thunder Racing Hurricane Update #2 08/30/05

As of tonight, we still don't have power or phones at the shop. We have two generators, but it doesn't do us any good if our T1's are down We did get to process all of the on-line orders from a remote location tonight and we'll be packing and shipping tomorrow. Please bear with us if we take a day or two longer than usual to get things shipped. We will be doing our best to get things back to normal as soon as possible.

I'm just so thankful that we have fared as well as we did and that all of our staff are safe. Many of them have family staying with them in from New Orleans and it's just heartbreaking to think that these people no longer have anywhere to go.

I haven't heard anything about Candy or Alan Futral, but communications here are spotty at best. I know that the town they are in has a dusk to dawn curfew right now, but that's all I heard.

We'll keep everyone updated as often as possible.

Thanks so much for everyone's thoughts and prayers.

Someone posted on LS1tech that they were OK as well. They are in the same situation as we are...no power, no phones.

Re: Thunder Racing Hurricane Update #2 08/30/05

We still have no phones, no email, no power...but we were OPEN for business today All of the on-line orders were processed from a couple of different employee's houses and we brought the orders back to the shop to pack orders and get them shipped out. It was a GREAT sight to see the UPS truck leave today with a load of orders. The engine building guys were here working by generator power, as well as everyone in the shop.

I am still working on getting the order confirmation emails sent out with tracking numbers, but my computer is fighting me and it may have to wait until morning becuase it has been a LONG LONG LONG three days and I'm pooped.

We'll update again tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for their continued support during this...we really need it!

I've seen footage on television of New Orleans yesterday, where is the shop in relation to New Orleans? You are all very fortunate that you are all safe and the shop only suffered minor damage.

Baton Rouge is west of New Orleans.
Paul/Angie,
It is great to hear that you guys are safe and sound. Hang in there. We have a lot of transplanted Lousiana folks here in Texas right now, and everyone here is trying our hardest to accomodate everyone. They keep mentioning all the donations and fund raising setup EVERYWHERE here. Apartments are giving folks from Lousiana FREE rent for 6 months with utilities paid in full also. All schools here are accepting any child, no questions asked.
Godspeed to everyone from Lousiana and may everything get back to "normal" very soon.

i'm glad to hear you guys are ok too. I placed an on-line order the other day without even realizing that you guys were down. I feel kinda bad now that you guys are having to play catch up with all of this. Take it easy this holiday weekend and hang in there.
