Strange 12 Bolt/Dana S60 Rearend Group Purchase

Is your rearend about to take it's last trip down the track? If so, we can help you with a Strange 12 bolt or one of the new Dana S60 rears! We're running a group purchase that covers both of these.

12 Bolt -

Gear ratios available are 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 and 4.10. The 3.90s will be noisy so Strange doesn't promote this one. This rearend now comes standard with the Super Strength posi. Each one is shipped ready to be installed. You will just need to swap the brakes from your current rear. Shipping is freight collect for this product so you will need to take care of that with the driver when he delivers.

GP prices -

PRG210-PRGOP8 Fully assembled and dyno tested rearend (less brakes). Features include 3.150" ID housing ends, 33 spline S/S axles, 1/2" studs,33 spline Super Strength posi unit, choice of 3 channel (center) or 4 channel (axle) ABS ring installed, ABS sensor installed, choice of caliper mounts (1993-'97 or 1998-'02), U-1602 S-series yoke(1350), cross over U-joint, u-bolts, chrome cover and your choice of US Strange standard gear set - 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10. (part # for cars with ABS sensor at the axles - usually for traction control cars) $2219.99

PRG210-PRGOP-14 Fully assembled and dyno tested rearend (less brakes). Features include 3.150" ID housing ends, 33 spline S/S axles, 1/2" studs,33 spline Super Strength posi unit, choice of 3 channel (center) or 4 channel (axle) ABS ring installed, ABS sensor installed, choice of caliper mounts (1993-'97 or 1998-'02), U-1602 S-series yoke(1350), cross over U-joint, u-bolts, chrome cover and your choice of US Strange standard gear set - 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10. (part # for cars with ABS sensor on the top of the pumpkin) $2219.99

R5206 Upgrade to aluminum support cover $114.99

gmbbp Options: You will either need to send in your brake backing plates or you can purchase a set to be built into the rear (1998+). If your car has traction control you will need to send in your backing plates along with your axles so Strange can use the reluctor rings. $229.99

gmbbpcore Options: If you can't have any vehicle downtime we can charge you $229.99 for a set of backing plates and send them to Strange to be build into your rear. After your 12 bolt is installed you'd send your stock backing plates to us and we'd credit you $175.00. This option is only available if your car does not have traction control or the ABS at the axles. The backing plates are only required for 1998+ cars.. $229.99

Dana S60 -

Dana S60 features -
35 spline axles
HD Posi
Chrome Cover
3 or 4 channel ABS

You will need to send your brake backing plates in just before the rear is built so they can be built into the rear. We can sell a new set to you separate. The stock driveshaft will need to be shortened by 1.625".

The following gear ratios are available - 3.54, 3.73, 4.10, 4.30, 4.56, 4.88, 5.87.

The weight difference between Dana 60 and 12 bolt is 20-25 lbs, the Dana is heavier. Dana rear is fully assembled with posi weights around 215 lbs and 12 bolt is around 189 lbs (weight with brakes). The weight difference between 12 bolt and 9" is about 12-15 lbs the 12 bolt being lighter.

Ring gear sizes:
12 bolts ring gear only 8.875 OD
9 ring gear is is 9" OD
Dana has ring gear of 9.75 OD which is alot stronger than 12 bolt & 9".
The standard Dana gear (not Pro) can withstand close to 1200 RWHP.

The True-Track is posi is standard along with Power-Lock. These are good for about 600rwhp. The Dana's posi is alot stronger than a 12 bolt and the 9". This is because the Dana Posi's are 35 spline, 12 bolt is 33 spline and the 9" is a 33 spline.

Re: Strange 12 Bolt/Dana S60 Rearend Group Purchase

what is the difference between driveshafts? I see two chrome molly ones, but no mention of yoke size... and one says seamless. What is wrong with a chrome molly driveshaft that has a seam?

Re: Strange 12 Bolt/Dana S60 Rearend Group Purchase

Those shafts are supposed to fit the S60. We haven't sold any of their shafts for the 12 bolt yet but I'll see what they have for those. I'll also grab some more info about the shafts listed.

The LT1 rears have the brake backing plates installed. Those parts will need to be sent in for the LS1 cars.

The rears are shipped freight collect so we won't have any exact info for shipping. I can tell you that freight for most of them is usually in the $125. - $250. range. I believe the last one that came here was about $160.

2 orders in as of today.

Re: Strange 12 Bolt/Dana S60 Rearend Group Purchase

I have heard of some horror stories on frieght collect on LS1tech recently. One dude had a 400 dollar bill when it arrived. Can you lock in a price somehow, im not really wanting to save money on this GP only to spend it on shipping! Im just asking, if its possible. Thanks man, you have been great so far!

Re: Strange 12 Bolt/Dana S60 Rearend Group Purchase

The shafts listed above will also fit the 12 bolt rearends. The Yokes are shorter so that allows them them to be used with both rears. The U1700 is more for a race application. I found that all of these shafts are seamless now. The 1702 has weld yoke, the 1699 is a spicer.

We can't lock in any shipping rates. Those vary based on location and rates have been going up and down based on fuel costs (they list it as a fuel surcharge). Good thing is that fuel prices have been going down so that will save all of us some money. It's dropped 40 cents in my area in the last month.

Seeing that the GP minimum has been met, we're going to extend this pricing through Friday, September 29th. That might help people get some money together for one of these!
