Re: SouthSide Machine Traction Kits on Sale at JEG'S!
Southside Machine was legendary for building stuff for serious drag racers and (as an ex Jegs employee) I can tell you that this is a great deal on a great kit. I can't believe these are not sold out yet.

Yes, they were the "go-to" guys for drag race suspensions for years. It's too bad they are no longer with us. Thanks Trackbird.
FYI... We do still have some of these kits left.

We still have a few kits left... Hurry over and get yours before they are gone forever!
Update, the price has been drastically reduced again. At $199.99 they are now well below our cost.
Thanks.

Re: SouthSide Machine Traction Kits on Sale at JEG'S!
Do these kits eliminate the need for a torque arm? My friend has these for his 3rd gen, and he said that because he has the kit there is no need for a torque arm.
Re: SouthSide Machine Traction Kits on Sale at JEG'S!
Is this a weld in kit and would I benefit using it on street tires or drag radials? Any idea how much time it may shave off the 1/4 mile?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: SouthSide Machine Traction Kits on Sale at JEG'S!
Sorry for the delay, I have been out for a few days.
89385formula,
I couldn't remember from my tech days if that was the case or not, although I was pretty sure that's how this works... So, I spoke to the buyer for that line and he said he thinks so as well, but neither of us is 100% sure. As I recall these things have a pretty good instruction booklet, so I am going to have our warehouse pull a kit so I can find out for sure. This may take me a while. I'll probably be able to find out by the end of the day tomorrow.
NVRLATE,
This is a weld on kit. This is a pretty serious drag racing setup and would likely sacrifice some drivability on a street car, but I'm sure you could use it with street tires (although transmitting all that power to a street tire may not help your traction issues). To really see the benefit from it you'll certainly want to use a racing oriented tire (Slicks, Drag radials...etc). How much of a gain you would get is really hard to say when it comes to suspension setups. Alot depends on how bad your setup was before and what type of tire we are trying to plant all the power to.

Re: SouthSide Machine Traction Kits on Sale at JEG'S!
Very interested, does it come with the subframe connectors or not? In one area it says yes subframes included, then in the more details it states to use with subframe connectors which have a different part number. Since SSM is no longer in business it might be hard to get this to work without the entire setup.
Re: SouthSide Machine Traction Kits on Sale at JEG'S!
After reading that description, I am a bit confused as well. It's too bad they aren't still in business as I could just give them a quick call and know all of the answers we need. I am already having a kit pulled... So I'm just going to pull one of each and see for myself what they are. I'll let you guys know and also update the site as soon as I find out more details.
Re: SouthSide Machine Traction Kits on Sale at JEG'S!
Okay, I just got back from the warehouse. Both kits come with subframe connectors. The only difference in the kits is the length of the control arms, which is what dictates where your instant-center will be. Also, these kits DO eliminate the torque arm. As of this morning the 500hp+ kits are sold out (it sold while I was down there looking at it). We still have 3 of the other kits as of right now (10:40 EST), but at this price they are suddenly in high demand... So act fast.
Thanks again for the replies and/or purchases.
