Need a high torque/ gear reduction starter

Killed the 9th OEM starter last week. Need one that will crank the motor over without breaking... 1997 LT1. Let me know what you have.

Re: Need a high torque/ gear reduction starter

I was talking to you guys before about this entire problem. Compression is killing my starters... are these going to work?

Re: Need a high torque/ gear reduction starter

I sent the specs from the manufacturer and I believe your compression is below their limit. I don't have any first hand knowledge, but I would assume it not to be any worse than 9 fried OEM starters.
