Kooks new LT1 headers!

Just received word from Kooks that their LT1 headers are going to be released within a couple of weeks. Here are the details as of right now.

1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped, available with a 3" or 3 1/2" collector.

Primary tubes are between 28-32" in length.

The 1 3/4 portion of the primaries is about 4-5" before it steps to 1 7/8".

Stainless steel, top of the line Kooks construction. If any of you are familiar with Kooks, you know that their products are second to none. They're the nicest header my shop deals with. Period. So these will be probably the nicest LT1 headers on the market. And beings they are available with a 3 1/2" collector, they will work with some of the craziest applications.

According to Nick at Kooks, installation is extremely simple. He even ventured to say they're easier to install than their LS1 headers. He said they slide right in, and only require removing 4 spark plugs.

Pricing will be comparable to their LS1 headers (not official yet). We are taking orders now, so if you'd like to order a set, please give me a call at 281-448-1300, and we'll take care of you

Y pipes will be another 220ish dollars, 3", aluminized steel. And they come with or without emissions fittings.

Re: Kooks new LT1 headers!

Here's a few pictures of the headers. The headers pictured appear to be 3" collectors w/ the air/egr provisions... All the headers I have on order are race headers, that will have 3 1/2" collectors, and no egr/air provisions. If anybody would like differently, please let me know. The first shipment should be here in about 3 weeks...

I'm guessing the coated (ceramic?) ones are mild steel comparing the price of them to the stainless? I'd want the y-pipe also and need the system to be completely smog legal, AIR & EGR fittings, and cat-able, the whole smog enchilada.

Yes, the ceramic coated versions are mild steel. If you'd like to place an order, let me know. 281-448-1300.

Re: Kooks new LT1 headers!

Very nice set of headers. How low do they sit when installed on the car? Are they comparable to hookers? Or do they hug the floor pan like the TPIS headers? If they fit nice and snug I would love to buy a stainless set in the future. My mild steel coated LT's are starting to look like crap.

I haven't seen them installed on a car yet personally, but according to Nick at Kooks, there are absolutely no issues with ground clearance.

Re: Kooks new LT1 headers!

I see a few guys posting interested in a set of headers like this and aren't even making 300rwhp by the looks of their sigs.

Could you give us your recommendations on what power level you recommend these headers over the 1 3/4 longtubes currently available considering the additional cost. Not trying to turn away business from you guys, but if you're not ALREADY making around 400rwhp or more, I would think these headers aren't for you.

Kooks is one of the best custom header manufactures in the country. Well known for their top quality stainless steel headers. The best headers money can buy for the LS1's.... And soon to be LT1's

These headers will easily support 700+ to the wheels. And I'd wager to guess they're probably going to be worth a good 10-20 over the regular 1 3/4 Hookers if they're anything like what we see on the LS1's...
