Arrow IMPORTANT information about ASCD hood raffle!

I just spoke with Rex's wife, Crystal.

She gave me the e-mail address of the winner from CamaroZ28.Com.

Rex mentioned in the his post here that the winner's name is Mark Howey. Accodring to the e-mail address that Crystal gave me, Mark Howey's user name on this web site is SpectacularZ. That account was registered on 09/05/2003, nearly 3 months before this raffle was even thought of.

I think this is sufficient proof that Rex and the rest of ASCD were not trying to scam anyone here at all.

As far as the user name issue on ThirdGen.Org, all they had to go by was "wowcolorsemail@hotmail.com" or something very similar to that. They just assumed that the user name was "wowcolor" because that is all the information they had. When they announced the winner was "wowcolor", someone scanned the member list and saw that wowcolor was not a registered member so he registered that user name in hopes of taking a prize that did not rightfully belong to him. He basically pretended to be someone else. It is that guy who needs to be looked at as trying to run a scam, not Rex or ASCD.

Both Rex and Crystal feel pretty bad that they were trying to do something nice for everyone and people were saying such nasty things about them before allowing the facts to arrive. I also think that they deserve an apology form those who made those accusations and assumptions. But I am not judging anyone, that is just what I would do if I was among those who were making some serious accusations about something with not enough evidence to back it up.

I suggest that everyone who cares should shoot them an e-mail letting them know you appreciate what they tried to do, even if you weren't involved at all. Again, just a thought. After talking to them, I could tell that this whole thing really stung. Rex mentioned that he kinda felt like he was on trial for trying to play Santa Claus. That's not a cool way to go, IMO.

ASCD will try this again in the future, but we will help them out to ensure that this sort of things doesn't blow up in their face like it did this time.

Thanks for clearing that out, Jason!

Some people should feel at least a bit ashamed...

Its awesome that this got cleared up in a timely fashion.

In the future though, It would be wise of Rex to announce the winners on each site by their usernames, not by real names or email addresses. It would save alot of confusion.

...

I entered the raffle and even though I thought the results were fishy at first, once the whole thing was cleared up I'm glad I held my criticism.

I shot Rex and Krystal an e-mail supporting them, cause I like free stuff and I think he was trying to do something nice. The whole thing kinda blew up in his face.

A lot of people should feel like total eeediots now for bashing him

I'm glad I stayed out of it and gave Rex a chance to reply....

There's always two sides to a story and i'm glad this one turned out for the better....

Unfortunately for Rex, the damage is already done

I don't know of the situation, but I give props to Rex & Crystal for having the raffle, it sucks there's so many liars/cheaters out there that have to ruin everything for everyone.

I read all the replies over on ThirdGen.org, and I have to say I'm UNimpressed with their childish behavior. It was very obvious to me just reading the first few replies that someone registered the winner's name to pretend he was the winner and get the free hood. Surprised nobody else saw that. What a bunch of children.

Well, don't some people feel like turds now? Nah, they'll probably still stick to their theory that it was a sham, and since they didn't win and will never meet the winner face to face with the hood in their hands, they will never believe it.

Congrats to the winners and THANK YOU for offering this great raffle. I wish I had found out about it sooner so I could have gotten my entry in.

I look forward to getting into the next one.

Well I'm not looking for any recognition, but I will proudly say that I am probably the ONLY person who was defending or not persecuting ASCD regarding this issue.

I KNEW they hadn't done anything wrong and that they weren't scamming anyone. People were unbelieveably pathetic in this situation...unreal.

I'm glad to see that I was right and more importantly, that Rex and ASCD were in fact being legit and that things worked out well.

Thanks to Rex and ASCD and I apologize for the crap you were unjustly drug through.

Yea, well i was right there with you lt1powered85z, 2 thumbs up for ascd, I got a lot of respect for rex, and to think that hes going to do this again. Im glad hes not overly disgusted with the actions of some of our members and alot of the ones at 3G0.
How people can judge someones entire operation just like that a hour after a post is crazy.

Yeah the crap that happened on the TGO board shouldnt have happened. The moderator should have locked it and then got ahold of Rex. Ofcourse though humans love to cause an uprise. Im glad this got worked out. Sad that he had to take all those insults though.
Peace

Here is the thread I posted after the accusations were made and the thread had been locked.

It was wrong what we did, I pointed out the facts. I didn't make any judgements, I just pointed out things that seemed to be out of whack, and it went from there. I left it open cuz I thought that Rex would be back to explain.

I have been in contact with Rex regarding this whole mess and things are getting worked out.

LT1Powered85Z, you were getting all pissed and judgemental at anyone and everyone that had anything to do with that thread. You talk about us making accusations and assumptions about Rex....think about the opinions you have of the members that took part in that thread!

Yes I admit that some people did go to the extreme in that thread, but I think that I was one of the more tame members in that thread. But suit yourself in making all of the 'accusations'....and even a list giving a short story about how each person took part in that thread...how thoughtful.

I wasn't being judgemental, just calling a spade a spade.

I'm very well aware of the opinions that I have of the members that took part in that thread, but please note that unlike what you guys were doing in regards to Rex and ASCD, I wasn't basing my statements/opinions on assumption. I was basing what I was saying/feeling on the actual statements and actions of those whom I made comments about.

My "accusations" weren't accusations, they were statements of the truth regarding the actions that were being made by those members. There's a huge difference there. You guys were assuming and jumping to conclusions based on your assumptions. I was making statements based on activities and statements that were ACTUALLY happening, not on activities that I thought were taking place, like those what you guys were saying, in regards to Rex and his business practices.

Thanks.

Eric
