then there are a few limiting factors to the lift:
A. Can your valve springs safely handle the lift, springs have a max rated lift and their life is reduced if near or past it
B. Max lift supported by the heads, the stock heads support I think is about .600-.650" lift (correct me if im wrong)
the higher ratio roller rocker will put more stress on the valve train, so when most guys go w/ larger cams and small rocker arm ratio to reduce the stress
so do i need 1.6 self aligning or non selfaligning, i was told non,but only because u get a little better performance... but if thats the case, what other parts would i need to use the non self aligning, and how much does that stuff cost?
self aligning or non doesnt matter. you will need springs and retainers for either. i think thats it. depending on the size of the cam though you will want lifters and hardened pushrods and prob guide plates.
hmmm i see..... so basically, its my choice? do i HAVE to get hardened pushrods or will the stock ones work, this cam i am buyin the guys is throwing in the springs, retainers and locks, he told me what kind, but i forgot off hand...
93-95 LT1s came with hardened pushrods, the others didnt
if you change to 1.6 RRs you can get the LT4 springs if you dont have above .550 lift
if above that get an appropriate set of springs springs (check thunderracing.com for part numbers)
You can retain the stock retainers but getting a new set of locks wouldnt hurt as you might accident drop a few into the engine bay.
Your lifters should be fine too unless you are going with a big cam, so check to see what would be recommended with the cam you chose
Also when changing valve springs changing the valve seals is cheap and easy maintainence
