World Street Nats Thurs,Fri,Sat,Sun

Who's going? I go to this event every year and I've got to say it's worth it. Thursday night is the "car show" @ Race Rock on I-Drive. Cars that are racing are required to show up for the show and drive about a mile down I-drive. Some years the cops are really cool and let them show off a little. Friday, is Test&Tune for the entrants, Sat is qualifying, Sunday is when it all goes down. Oh, yeah, this is @ Orlando Speed World. You will see some street legal low-8 second rides

I'll be there... probably Saturday.

It's a blast. I love checking out all the creative forced induction setups. There will probably be at least 50 cars there in the 7s, and a bunch in the 6s.

Im planning to take my Monte Carlo SS to Race Rock thursday night.
Ive been every year (have the t-shirts to prove it) and it is the highlight of my year, save for the Turkey Rod run in Daytona.

Whistler, I didn't mean to leave out the 6 & 7 second rides. I was just referencing the cars that actually see some street duty (there was a 7.76 mustang last year w/ tags).

The cost is usually $25 on Sunday or $47 for Sat & Sun. I always bring about $40 in 1-dollar bills to bet w/ the good-ole boys. They usually place their bets based on the paint....not the driver/driveline. Every year except last year I walked out w/ more money than when I came in (including the $25 ticket to get in!). Last year I got waxed by a guy who really knew his stuff and took me for $50....Oh well...the year before I almost got in a fist fight for taking over $300 between a guy and his two buddies that were morons.

Whistler, got_hp, and all the rest, gimme a buzz if you want to meet up out there or @ race-rock.

Race Rock was f-in awsome. One of the best collection of Pro Street cars Ive seen in a long time.
The police escort we got from trailer parking to the show was cool too. I was surprised to see the cops say nothing of the burn outs on International drive.
Cant wait for next year.

The cops are typically very lienient down there. A bunch of us always meet up @ "the light" right down the street from where they start out. Unfortunately it wasn't as crazy as last year even though the cop guiding traffic @ that light didn't care if the guys ripped it up. There were still quite a few black marks going from one end of the intersection to the other. Man my eyes and lungs burned from all the alcohol cars. I was really surprised @ the lack of turbo cars. In years past almost half the "big-boys" were running twin turbo setups....And dont' forget "CASPER" from two years ago. That was the quad-turbo white LS1-f-bodied car that had an estimated 2,300 hp.

I got to put on a little smoke show with a tubbed 68 Camaro. There were two Orange County Sheriffs deputys standing with their car not too far from me. Some guy stopped us in the middle of the road and flagged us off. I was willing to pay the ticket, but the deputies just stood there enjoying the show.
I have to say that was the most fun I've had in a long time. I'm still amazed at how many people were there. It must have been 3000 people, and I think they all had flash cameras. It was blinding.
I'd love too see any video if anyone has any. I had to run my buddy back to his truck about 7:00 and when I got back they had me park right behind Bigfoot.
The best was on the way to Race Rock seeing the old tourists standing on the sidewalk, slack jawed and wide eyed at the line of cars moving though traffic and the cops stopping the intersections for us. Rockin' Robs Vette was behind me, surging and whining away. Very cool.
Cool also were the heavily modified 4th gen Camaros this year. I saw at least 4 that were tubbed. Sort of has me thinking.
Sorry to ramble but I'm still jacked up about last night. Its hard to concentrate on work today.

Black, we indearingly refer to the spot where the guy flagged you as "the intersection." There has never been a cop stationed there before, and it's always been THE crazy spot on the route. They sent someone down there because cross-traffic was getting out in the parade route there. When the cop showed up, we thought all the fun was over, but then the 'flag-man' (he does it every year) walked over and talke to him. He said, "If anyone asks, I was takin down license tag numbers..., but so long as no one gets too stupid and no one gets hurt, I don't give a Shee-yacht."...so it was game on again. A few of the rodders saw him standing there and pussed out, but we were able to convince most that he was just there for the show. You don't get brakes in life like that too often. It's nice to know some of the cops are still good'ole boys.

I wasnt planning on going, but i drove up to Titusville so my buddy could buy a Syclone. So we just went a few minutes over and checked it out for a few hours today (Sat).

I got to meet Kurtis Tamez who flew down from Washington (state) Very cool guy

Oh and did anyone else see Paul Tutle from the American Chopper TV show? I saw him in one of the cars there Sat morning, looking pissed off as usual.

Yeah Paul was there...actually several chopper crews were. I was told they were stopping in to race their cars on the way to a big chop-show in so-fla. You should've come around Mon if you had the chance to watch the finals
