Who's from the Sarasota area?
Who's from the Sarasota area?
Hey guys, I'm moving down to the area this summer, used to live on the east coast (Vero Beach) but I figured I would try the West Coast this time. Work is sending me down, working on opening a new office, and I was wondering if there was anyone off here that lived in the area. I'm 23, and I'm always up for a good time. Car buddies are always good.
Re: Who's from the Sarasota area?
What line of work are you in?
I moved to Sarasota from the Orlando area back in Jan. '04 for a job right after I finished school.
Let me tell you, it's totally different over here than where I'm from. There's a lot of old folks and TONS of money over here. The nightlife over here is pretty much on Main Street, which consists of a movie theater full of teenie-boppers, a teenie-bopper nightclub, a few high-class bars and a few good bars for people our age (I'm 23 too). Something you'll like about this area is you can't drive 3 blocks without seeing a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Masterati, etc.
The beaches over here are different from the east coast. I used to go to Daytona, New Smyrna and Ponce Inlet and there's plenty of action over there, but over here, it's more subtle, quiet and laid back, and you can't drive on the beaches here. There are a few good night spots around the beach though.
Bradenton Motorsports Park is ALWAYS a big draw for me. It's about 25 min. north of Sarasota and is an excellent track. I was just there last night and there's plenty of Camaros, Firebirds and American muscle there. Everyone there is cool and there's always plenty of special events taking place there.
If you have any other questions about the area, just ask.

I work for a company called Don Lor's Electronics, we're pretty big in Michigan and my boss is on a big expansion kick. We opened offices in Indiana and Utah last year, and now we're working on Florida. I design and install custom home audio and high end home theater systems. You saying that there's alot of old people with alot of money down there makes me smile. I'm glad to here that theres a big motorsports park close by too, I live near Detroit and theres several here. I'm really looking forward to moving down there, I miss Florida and I really hate the snow. Good choice on a car, and color BTW!

Re: Who's from the Sarasota area?
Well the big thing for car guys is that the Desoto Speedway (Bradenton Motorsports Park) is right near you in Sarasota. It's a 1/4 mile so none of that wimpy 1/8 mile stuff
I'm part of a car club called Rev Xtreme. We frequent BMP. Send me a PM if you'd like info on meeting up with us.
