thats a hell of an install, try ro find a dealership that has an F-body cart. it is a device that lowers the entire k-member from the car. you have to dissasemble the entire car to install a k-member. I would call courtesy chevy on west colonial.

I don't know about in Orlando, but there's a place in the Tampa/Brandon area that could probably do it. All they do is Fbodies and Vettes. I think it's Rev Xtreme... try hitting Google and search for Rev Xtreme.

I haven't done one personally but your right about hoisting or suspending the motor. Once the motor is supported then you can pull the k member with no problem. It's a big job but not huge so don't sell your car.

Re: who installs k-members in orlando
I just had to swap mine out for another stock one and it probably took about 8 hours by myself. It might have been faster but I was trying to take off as little as possible. After hitting roadblock after roadblock I decided it was best just to yank it all out. The bolts for the lower control arms wouldn't come oout because of stuff in the way. The steering rack wouldn't seperate from the K member until you dropped the K member a few inches. I ended up unbolting the motor perches from the K member and with the car on jackstands supported the engine with a jack. Then there were only 6 bolts holding it in. The brake lines were a bit tricky because they kinda wrap around the steering rack. But they were only attached by 4 screws to the k member and remained in the car so there was no need to bleed the brakes.
If you've got U&L arms to put in too, Just pull everything out in as complete of a chunk as you can. I would expect no more than 4-6 hours of labor for a pro with a lift.

I have helped drop a motor on the K member in almost 1.5 hrs with a lift. PM if you are willing to take the car over to Melbourne, it can be done in a day easily.
