WANTED: dealers with f-body cars

i'm incredibly tired of dealing with local dealers. i just got back from greenway dodge where the guy was a complete ***** to my dad and i, trying to sell me the beat to hell WS6 they got on a trade-in even when his manager said they wern't selling it because "its got too many problems" ...

does anyone know of any local dealers with f-bodies on the lots? the only one that i've seen that has a large number on their lot was mcnamara pontiac on 50. anyone know a dealer or something so i can talk to someone who won't keep throwing BS at me every chance they have? its getting really old real quick.

I bought my car from Kaiser Pontiac in DeLand, FL. www.kaiserpontiac.com

They have really nice cars and good service, but they're really tough to budge on price. I'm sure they have some F-Bods there.

Im kinda surprised anyone buys from Kaiser. When I bought my 96 convertible for $10,900 they had a 96 TA with a ton of miles and a hardtop(no T-tops or anything). They wanted $18,995. At the time McNamara had a 97 WS6 with about 21k on it for $11,900 loaded. The moron thought giving it to me for $17k was a deal. The NADA retail on that particular TA at the time was $12999. It seems like most dealers in Deland are kinda high.

There are a couple dealers down off of John Young near OBT that frequently have them at decent prices. There is a white Z28 at Hunt's Auto Sales in Osteen. If you call them ask for Raymond and tell him I told you to call. He went to school with my wife and we have bought several cars from him. He is kinda cocky but will typically shoot you straight.

I bought mine at Classic Honda and at that time anything else I looked at with three times the miles and not a convertible was a lot more.

I know what you're saying about Kaiser having high prices. When my car first arrived there they wanted $17,995, as soon as I saw them reduce it to $13,995 I bought it. I'm not loyal to them, they did have good used cars when I bought mine there and their service was alright.

I see your car has an LS1Motorsports lid. I placed an order for mine this Monday and they said it would be here Friday. I called them today so see if they shipped it and said they didn't have any in stock at the moment. Did they pull this with you or did you get yours right away?

World Chevy had some used vettes, and a really nice F-150 my girlfriend fell in love with

but I didn't see any f-bodies...

I know its not ideal.... but check carmax's website. When looking for my girlfriend's car, we found a really nice deal on one at carmax, on a PT cruiser, but jsut out of the price range she was looking.

Advantage with Carmax is you can search their nationwide inventory. IF you buy like a car its I think a $400 charge to ship it to a local dealer, but if you end up buying it, they knock the $400 off the price.

BTW... ready to smack all those people who say "I see low mileage ls1s for $8k all the time..."

McNamara always has a ton of F-bods out front, but I don't know about prices...

Try Armstrongs Performance in Sanford. He usually has LT1's but occasionally he'll pick up an LS1 for sale.

Also Black's may have 1 or 2.. They had a 96 WS6 a while back that was nice....

John-

Did you notice a difference after you put the lid on?

Yeah, back in Feb. '03. Is it hard to believe I got it for that price or do you think I paid too much? I checked around at the time I bought it and it looks like I got a steal.

Ditto on Black's, they're about Mustangs, but they do have an occasional F-Bod for a good price when they get one.

It had 40,900 miles on it when I bought it.

I originally wanted a black LS1 Z28 with grey cloth and a stick and that's it, but that EXACT car was tough to find, so I "settled" and wound up with a nice car.

It's good you're keeping your options open and don't have tunnel vision like I did, you'll find better deals that way.

I never ran it with the lid installed properly. I noticed a SOTP differance though.

Anasazi--I only paid $16900 for mine at Classic Honda with only 12k on the clock. It is prestine. I know that is a little more than you wanted to pay but it is a convertible with every option but SS. Not only that, that was what they were asking, not negotiated price. THey would not negotiate.

I was looking at base model hardtops for $18000 and up. I even hooked up with a girl that took me to the auction and found a nice black Formula, but it went for $18500. Also a base model.

THERE Is a white Z28 at a dealer on South Orange avenue in downtown Orlando just south of the hospitol on the other side. ANd there is also a white one at that Hunts auto sales.

I am keeping an eye out for you man.

thats an awesome price too!

i'll check those cars out, thanks for looking!

most of the dealers around here are RIPOFFS ... they all want 20 - 26k for 4 year old cars with 35 - 40k miles on them. its insane. the only good prices i've found is mcnamara pontiac, and since its not the exact car i'm wanting i'll let that one sit on the lot another week or so and then go back and offer them a low-ball price and see if they'll take it.

yea i'm trying to keep my options open, even though limiting it to just f-bodies already limits it quite a bit lol

looking for:
1998 - 2000 trans am / formula / z28
less than 55k miles
good condition, good paint is a MUST
monsoon stereo
m6 tranny (but will take auto if price is right)
t-tops
must be STOCK... or pretty damn close to stock (and "brought back to stock" doesn't count)

other than that, i'm open, although the above are deal breakers. don't care about leather, defrost, asr, fog lights, etc etc etc... but even keeping open like that its hard to find one the dealer isn't wanting a ton of money for.

the good paint requirement is inspired by my current car ... lol
