Update on John's 3.23 Rear Swap...

Well we began at 11 AM Everything went smooth until I we had to remove the rear emergency brake cables. That was the toughest part of removing the rear end. So anyone doing a rear swap do not fear.

Once it was off we began to bolt up the new rear. A few things we soon found out. My calipers did not come with brake hoses and we did not get to order them soon enough to be here same day. So Fun day Sunday is out. ƒ¼ It went in easier than it came out. My only concern is the brake pads or rotors are not right. They fit so snug. Now on my buddies old 97 his pads were never this hard to do.

Overall the rear end swap form drum to disk brakes is easier than most mods you will do. I would order a complete rear instead of buying a rear without brakes and what not. It would make it a little easier.

Tomorrow it will be finished up and I will let everyone know the difference of going from a peg leg 3.08 to a posi 3.23

Yeah its really simple... just make sure you bleed the hell out of the brakes, took a few times to get it right... I forgot how hard it was to get nmy drum e-brake cables off, I got fed up and hacksawed the ends

If this mod when done can make me run 15.1-15.5 I would be very happy. I would like to run 15.5 on 87 octane, and all current mods with only spare tire removed. I would like to run 15.1 using all mods and no fornt Sway bar ect....

After this I am looking at headers, new y-pipe and full exhaust then I am done with this car... Without nitrous or a lot more cash it will never be a Z or ws6, or a GTP...

Well this swap took us 16 hours roughly... It stunk overall and I do not think it is 100 percent. I think it is like 80 percent.. It runs, but I do not think right.

Problems we ran into:

No rubber brake hoses
Needed new rear brake lines
