I'm trying to help out one of my friends. They are in Quant. Tools II with some new teacher-Glen Harrison (so I know nobody else has had him before-unless you have him this semester). But anyways, there is some program they have to use that is ONLY available in the Magruder Lab (its called Stata). I was wondering if there is a way that you can access their computers (and that program) from home.
I know for my Cornerstone class I set up a proxy server under my LAN settings so I could use some program that they have a subscription to at UCF's library with all the financial data about different companies. Is there a way to do that through the McGruder lab also?
thanks for any help
Erik

I doubt it will work. The stuff in Cornerstone is a thing education subscription, to online services(Moodys, Standards and poors, etc.)
For the program tellhim ot ask the teacher if there is a place he can go for the program, I took MIS 3005, and I needed VB.net, they had a school copy we could use.
Is the Magruader lab still around, I tried to go into that computer lab over the summer and it was just gone
I spent many a many weekend hours working on stuff in Macgruader, tell him to get his stuff done right away, you get kicked out of that lab with no warning so many things go on in that lab.
Also tell him ot try ot sneak into the laptop labs, in the business building, I forgot the room numbers but they were, in BA1, on the second floor, if you went up that stair cases in the middle of the building, they were on the side closer to the Engineering building.
It had similar programs as Macgruader. I think the username and password was the room number then MIS room number, its usually written somewhere small on hte walls in those rooms, but a warning, its a wireless network that was always messed up and the printers never worked.

Alright-thanks a lot for the help. I'm not sure if the lab is still there or not-I've never been and dont know where it is or was, and the girl I'm trying to help out hasn't been yet either-I think she's pretty far behind. The hours they were open seemed pretty wierd and dont really match her hours-thats why I was trying to help out-but its not a big deal
I've never heard of Stata before, I was told MiniTab is the standard in stat. info. If it's MiniTab she needs installed on her PC, I can give you my MiniTab CD for her to copy.
I believe the Magruder lab is no longer open as a lab, it's a testing and reg. center. The business lab is now in BAII.

Alright, I'll have to make her look into it further. Yeah, I used MiniTab for Quant II-but this is some new teacher and the program is supposedly REAL expensive, so they do not include it with the book-but is only available in some computer lab. Thanks for the help-I'll have to have her ask her teacher on where to go.
