Turkey Rod Run 2005

Just wondering who was going to be in town for the event, since it starts a week from today. I live in Ormond Beach, so I'll be around town all week/weekend. Anyone else planning on attending?

Anyone?

The weather is looking pretty good right now. Lows in the 50's and highs in the lower 70's.

Re: Turkey Rod Run 2005

I will be there Friday sometime during the day, Friday and Saturday night on A1A, and probably Sat and Sun at the track. Check out my forum at www.centralfloridaf-bodies.com. We are going to meet up somewhere, and go as a group.

Re: Turkey Rod Run 2005

Well just got back. Have to say real dissapointed in the way the car corral was set up.
Paid alot extra and got nothing. They were letting all the other cars in the show put for sale signs on their cars.
Used to not allow that. Only cars in car corral could show a sign.
Plus it wasnt really segregated off like in years past.
Next year I will just hang at A1A and cruise.

I noticed that too. Complain to the organizers! That way at least next year they can make adjustments....

Re: Turkey Rod Run 2005

Funny you say that. The guy parked next to me was so pissed he was e-mailing from his lap top to the organizer car club.
I will e-mail something. Its still a great time, A1A was awsome as usual.
Got a quick side by side with a Pro Street Nova.
Lots of fun cruising this year.

Re: Turkey Rod Run 2005

I was back today, and I noticed more cars for sale than not. The guy I was with agreed with the whole thing. I hope you get somewhere. At least a refund of your extra money...

Re: Turkey Rod Run 2005

I heard, not sure if true or not, that some people were asking for a refund of the difference.
Were told no way.
I dunno, the whole thing seems way out of control anymore.
Too many cars, not enough people working on it?
Too many newer cars for sure.
I saw in the car corral a newer S10 pickup. Like a 96 or so. Stock. A Ford dually, stock about a '02. A Nissan pick up about mid 90s, stock.
And, get this, a Pinto. Stock.
That was just a few that, some years back would not be allowed there.
My Monte is a 85 but heavily modified. And the first time I tryed to register it they wanted a picture of it first. That was about '96.
My opinion is they need to go back to just 4000 cars and keep the "rules" about what can be brought in. Plus visible for sale signs being a no no.
Oh and dont get me started on parking.
I had to leave my truck and trailer in spectator parking. Couldnt park were I usually park right behind the front stretch had to park in the lot all the way on the west end of the speedway property.
It was supposed to be just for vendors and people selling cars but everyone was parking there. It was a bitch to get my truck and trailer out.
Either they are making it a whole lot more complex than it needs to be or they are lacking in organization.

Re: Turkey Rod Run 2005

I noticed the same thing. Most of the cars in the "show area" had for sale signs on them too. I was pissed b/c I had to pay an extra 60 bucks to get it in the Car corral. What a pain....
