Tranny shop north of Jax, Fla

Guys, here's some info FWIW, I see lots of guys posting for a reputable tranny builder.

L&D Tranny is off exit 3 on I-95 in Kingsland Georgia. Larry is the owner, their phone is 912-510-9240.

he's pretty hardcore when he builds a tranny, and he warranty's them to 550hp, with the exception of abuse (different parts break somehow)

Here's what I know: he rebuilt our tranny (93 700R4 ~350hp) and he was able to tune the shifts just like my daughter wanted so it would not slam into second in the rain, but still stand up to the motor & shift firm under power.

he is a bit expensive because he replaces every part in the tranny with new/hardened parts, and he can adjust your shift kit to your liking.
he will not put used parts back into a tranny, because if he has to work it under warranty, it comes out of his pocket, so he just builds it right the first time. that's his theory, build it right the first time.

he's doing 4L60E's in 4x4 trucks and SUV's and all kind of hot rods.

I've heard nothing bad about the guy, and he give's military 10% off.

hope that helps someone else get a good tranny. I don't worry about ours.

later,
john

If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for the 700R rebuild? If you'd rather keep it private and e-mail me instead please do so. I'm interested in getting my 4L60E redone before it gets bad and takes out my Yank converter with it. TIA.

I got mine done cheap, because my buddy worked for him and stuff like that.

just call Larry, and he can tell you a ball park price. he may even let you pull the tranny out of the car in his shop & re-install it yourself, he does that for the military guys who are on a budget.

but, he'd need the car here to set up the shift points & stuff.

Was over talking to him today, and he's got courier service available in Jax now.

You pull the tranny, he picks it up from your house, rebuilds it, and delivers it back to you, and you install.

you can drive it up later if you need more in-car adjustments or tuning.
