there are ants in my frame
basics of what happened:
went up north for 10 days, car sat parked for 10 days under car cover.
ants decided my car was the perfect place to take up residence, took over.
found ant nest under my seat at a gas station.
went out tonight to clean up the ants with a vacuum cleaner and couldn't find the main nest, pulled out the seats, carpet, side panels, everything i could.
finally figured out the ants were comming from the holes in the subframes, so we figure they moved in there.
what is the best way to get rid of them? i put some ant hotel things behind the kick panels but i don't want to spray anything into the subframes and risking rust / corrosion.
they are not fire ants so fire ant bait won't work.

Try stuff called Home Defense (available most anywhere). I use it on my house, and it is rare if I see an ant. I have an 18 month old, a dog that likes to take his food to his pillow to lay and eat, and 3 birds that like to throw bird food, and still rarely see an ant. The stuff is clear, and dries odorless. I would spray the **** out of the underside of your car, and do some where you saw the ants. They are probably attracted to something that you spilled that got rewet with all the humidity trapped in your car while parked.
Also, speaking of the humidity, I keep a DampRid bucket thing in my 98 while it is parked in my garage (which is most of the time). Keeps smells and humidity out. Try one next time you park it for a while....

i work for a pest control company, this is what id try....goto a "do it yourself" pest company, theres a lot around......get some "maxforce" ant gel (should work on MOST ants)....get some 2liter soda caps or something similar and put some of the gel in them, and leave them in a few places in the car overnight where youve seen ants.........some ants take a few days to kill, some might be gone overnight.
