Question Is this a ricer thing down here in Orlando?

okay this has happened about 3 times since I have moved here..all diffrent ways but basically when Im just going down the road lets say three lanes..
one: I am in traffic at a light and there is a import in behind another car in the second lane..the car in front of the import moves over or turns..the import slows down next to me and drops back and speeds up and I will get the ricer fly bye and the hazards?? WTF??

2 and 3: are kinda the same..I get a ricer...that comes up from in back of me or beside me and just cuts me off and throws his hazards on?? or turns the opposite way on the road and throws the hazzards???

umm whats up with this..and these are just kids I guess one with a 4 dr corrola with a stupid wing and fart can..and another was a blue eclipse in need of a paintjob..and gfx need to be fixed..but a NEW fart can...

so thats that..is this something new?? or they do this down here?

I've never had a ricer turn the hazards on me for any reason...you're just lucky I guess.

maybe they broke something when they were passing you and had to put on their hazzards???? i've never had it happen to me but there's so many kids around that will try you in anything and think they win b/c you don't even realize they're trying to race you.

i've had people try to race me when im just going down the road before, or accelerating from a stoplight like i normally do. often the music will be loud enough to bearly mask their fartcannon and i won't have noticed they're trying to race till i see their car rock back and forth from the "power shifting"... or shifting of the automatic in their civic through the gears manually.

Hahahahaha, thats great. It happens all the time here. When I drive my wifes 01 Eclipse, it happens a lot. I had a guy in a base Lancer flash his hazards at me in that car, I was leaving the light at a semi normal pace, he was only 3 cars ahead of me, I had no idea he was trying to race. Ricers everywhere around me.

What's great is when you're in the middle of heavy traffic, they rev from a few lanes away, make their way next to you, then wait till only they have the open lane and take off. Or when both lanes are free for both of you to go at it, instead they move behind you and tailgate you till you get back in traffic, and it all starts over again. This happened to me on redbug this weekend. Kinda funny actually, because the driver actually looked like he was going to race and not back down, like they usually do.

aaahhh, the infamous Ricer fly-by!....I believe they learned this from the late 90's mustang 5.0 guys.....never fails, The MORONs are giving it all they got, power shifting at 7500 RPM, fart cannon blasting, shift light illuminating the entire interior(because the tach is 8" of course).......and little do I know(over the sound of uncapped Borla exhaust) that they are even racing, you know because I'm in Sixth gear at 1200 R.p.m. just cruising, and their giving it all they got to get by me.........Then you get the blinding hazards through the clear taillight lenses. You also wonder what the hell are those strobe lights under the car for, does he really need a NEON license plate cover?....I could go on forever!

Thank god for f-bodies!!!

I still think the best one was when the 80s style BMW 318 with the fart pipe and shopping cart wing is sitting at a light and I get next to him and he is waving a fist in the air and yelling at me saying "LT1 that buddy, I just smoked your V8 with my 4 cylinder--HAHA"

Funniest thing, I had never seen him before. Apparently he thought I raced him at the last light. So from that light I showed him what half throttle and 2 gears in an LT1 could do. He would not even look at me at the next light. So I just yelled back--"Lt1?, what does that mean?" and laughed.

No flashers or anything though. I do get a lot of old Civic DX drivers showing me a Nitrous bottle though. Not sure if this is a mating ritual of some sort. I must be getting old because I dont understand these new rituals.

You guys are just upset because you really did lose!!!!!

(lol, yep...had to leave a little delay)

You know, the best is when you realize they want to race. I was in a customer's 97 Z28 a few weeks ago and some civic/ Star wars warship device was creeping and revin at the light. I just kept a half a fender on him through first (3,000ish shift @ 30-40% throttle), pushed the clutch in, changed the radio station, pushed it to 3rd instead of 2nd, then really romped on it.....he never gained the fender, then I was gone. I was told by the customer riding shotgun that I'd just damaged my Karma by the sheer cruelty I showed to the ricer.

On a more serious note, with the size of the newer Capt. Downforce and Road Ranger spoilers is almost large enough to incase a 15 lb bottle or two of nitrous...WTF? I saw a car the other day with this huge spoiler on the back and just rolled my eyes....upon closer inspection it was an empty bike carrier.

BTW, next time a see a hot p.rican chick I'm trying the flashers!!

I used to get the Ricer-Buzz-By all the time.

Apparently, though, 2004 is the year that late 2nd gen Camaros have suddenly become cool to the ricers. I get a lot of thumbs up and "hey, man, cool car" now. Strange.

I did have an encounter with an Integra GSR (with spray) that almost didn't go my way, though. There are some fast ones out there.

Yeah, Orlando is full of ricers. The bad thing is that they have no taste in what they do (which isnt much). They just slap on any old fart can, the cheapest 5 ft wing you can buy and a couple decals and wham, they think they have a race car! I've had the flyby a few times, but I get em at the next light. I dont waste my time racing them, I just give them a look and ask them "WTF was that?".
