question about MSCC and SCCA rules: battery strap

like all 4th gens, my battery hold-down broke. OSW doesn't care but when i went to MSCC they said i must tie down my battery if i wanted to come back

so today's activity was to ghetto-fab something up so that it is tied down once again. this is the end result:

(yes, its 56k friendly)

now it slides a little bit left and right (torwards and away from radiator) but it doesn't move forward or back or up and down AT ALL.

question:
is this good enough?

OSW is a joke. I doubt they care about your car, your safety, or anyone elses as long as they get your money.

Anyhow If it moves at all the tech inspector will probably say something. Whether or not you're still allowed to run is at their discresion.

Its probably fine but I would suggest putting some dense foam rubber under the strap. The extra tension should help a bit.

yeah, i'd wedge some foam in there. most fancier cars have the battery in a foam box anyways.

and BTW, that's not ghetto. actuallly looks real good.

ghetto is when the Garage Door repair man has some rope in his work van that doubles as a tow vehicle, and it takes 4 of you to get it tied down tite, because you paid $200 for a State Patrol Mustang that only had 2 door handles total

i miss SCCA something fierce. i've got all the stuff to do it now, truck, car hauler, helmets, and the time, but I don't have a car I want to beat on now.

lemme borrow yours, and i'll let you know how the guys up here critique your strap, ok?

Why not just go buy another factory wedge to hold it down? They can't be that much. But the starp looks okay. I would add some foam or rubber between them too just in case.

You mean fix the lip that breaks? Ehh not worth it in my opinion, mine broke on my 2k, I autocrossed one month everything was fine, I never opened the hood for an entire month, next autocross, it was broken.

been using my camera bag strap ever since.

only way to fix it is to replace the whole coolant overflow tank, its all one piece.

too much work for something that will just break again
