what was the humidity and temp? how bout the short times?

those 3 things combined and can lead to a very poor showing.

yeah really need to bring that 60' down...

commone drag racing rule of thumb, every .1 in the 60'= .2 in the 1/4 mile.

Makes you feel any better been cleaning up my room and found a timeslip from 1999 from in my 2.8L v6. I think this was my first time out to the track.

February 26th, 1999

R/T 1.200
60' 2.775
330 7.811
1/8 11.936
mph 60.73
1000 15.435
1/4 18.452
mph 74.46

This was done in my 1985 2.8L Camaro, A4, pretty sure it had 3.23s, I had a rigged up Ram air, ignition coil, plugs, wires, and exhaust.

I think my best time was about a second faster in that car. Goes to show why you don't go to the track once and be assume thats all your car will do.

But dang a 2.775 60' and people used to tell me you cannot spin the tires in a 2.8L automatic v6

yeah biring your short time down and your time will be alot better. Your first investment should be in some sticky tires like et streets or drag radials, that will bring your time down in a hurry.

heck I would even hold off on those, and just hit the track 2-3 more times and see what you can do with different track prep and more practice...

Shaen went with his turbo v6 bird recently ahd he had lots of traciton problems and he usually doesn't have too many.

You'll get better times man, just practice. LT1s are strong cars and you should be able to pull off high 13s if you can drive it like an expert.

That's about right, I think I may have a little exception though.

Best I did my first time at the track (OSW) was a 14.0@102 with a 2.3 60'.

Last March I went 13.5@105 at BMP with a 2.2 60', what an improvement. Maybe it has better prep.

If I can get my 60' down to say a 2.0, what do you think I'm good for?

yeah my last run with the 2.2 60' was ithe opposite the 3 other passes. yeah the tires on thre now are a lil dry rotted but have decent anount of tread left in em (dry rotted cuz the car hasnt been driven, in waht looks to be 2 years) since the car hasnt been driven in so long maybe it needs a tune up and oil change!! that would probably help.
even when i eased in to it and went i to it at 20-25 it would still spin like crazy, next wednesday i will flip the tires around and seee what happens.
hope to see yall out there

Right off the bat, the weather right not really sucks for racing. And, like everyone else said - 60' times are horrible. Cooler weather, fresh radials, and a good tune up should put you in the low 14's at 98+ MPH.

Trust me on the weather... I'm so close to a 12.99 that I can smell it. What I wouldn't do for some colder temps right about now.

My tires seemed to be pretty good at the track and on the road in wet conditions. I've also ran over some pretty hairy stuff in the road and the tires didn't even puncture. They lasted me 23K miles (don't know if you think that's a long time-I don't) and I just put my second set on last Saturday. They're a great all-around tire.

The weather sucks for one, that's part of it. You'll be about .2 faster in colder weather. The main thing now is good tires and a thorough tune up. Throwing mods at a car that isn't in a good state of tune is assed backwards.
