Post Paging: Chuck...

hey chuck...

is there going the MSCC meeting is going to be ythis thursday right? i mioght actually go to it if it is.

A;lso I know I will not beable to make next sunday, my normal GM is out of town and bunch of managers had ot get sent to Palm Beach to help out with a theater where a bunch of managers got Mass fired for some huge scandal, so I cannot get the day off. Which is good I still have to find time to play with my brakes.

i was alos wondering what should I get doing to get going on the Mini/maxi-pree in Gainesville, I really want to go to this and I actually wanto to plan things out well in advance

Yes there is a meeting at Tom & Mony's Pub off SOBT. Get directions from the website.
www.martinsportscarclub.com
The meeting starts at 7:00 Thursday.

Sorry to hear you're gona miss out this month. It's the annual "Lord Duckham's Revenge" event. All british cars are FREE!! So if you know anybody with a British car...

As for the October/Gainesville event, I'll know more after the meeting. We should have all the details worked out by then. Supposedly we'll be able to preregister online. There will be a limit set for the number of participants. Tech will be the night before and maybe early that morning. Hotel rooms will be the biggest problem as there is a UF home football game that same weekend.

I'll post more info as I get it.

It's probably a good idea to be in top mental shape if you decide to participate. With higher speeds, trickier course and those awesome Cooper Cobras, I'd hate for your machine and the course to gang up and get the best of you. We want to avoid the grass if at all possible.

hey chuck any new news on the mini prix, obviously I could not make it to the meeting, which is all good, my autxing days may down for a bit.

Might be losing the old 94 3.4L for another 94 3.4L. An extremely unreliable pile of ugly plastic cladding 94 3.4L dohc Grand Prix GTP. Now as good as an autocrosser a 3500lbs. 215 HP FWD sedan sounds... not sure how great it would be, looking over the rule book, I am guessing I would be in H-stock? similar carz in there are Dodge Stratus, ford contour, and Ford taurus. COurse, all minis are included in this class too, that would be a worse advantage then WRXs vs. my v6 f-body.

I figure I could sell, random mods, I have on the car and in my room for maybe $400?

Guess I could start saving for a 3rd gen
fun only side car, and in the meantime, guess I could have what fun I could with the GTP, maybe I can convince the girlfriend to let me try her cavalier out at some events.

Why are you losing the Camaro? Anyways I would do some research on the DOHC 3.4 before buying. I "heard" they are notoriously unreliable.

I know that too...

thing is I ain't buying a thing, its an extra car in the family.

I am basically trading a non-reverseing, non second gearing, camaro with multiple other problems for a 94 gtp with 50k, perfect interior.

I think I am already looking ot save some money for a 3rd gen.

BTW I am starting to look up some stuff on www.clubgp.com to see if I can get mroe info about it. So far I heare its a great idea to change timing gears and cahin at 60k, (wtf) haven't done that yet at 118k, in fact, most I ever opened my motor was valve covers.

DO NOT BUY A DOHC 3.4. DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT! I SAY DO NOT!

I speek from experience here. I used to have a 97 Monte Carlo Z34. It's a very nice car but the engine is junk!!!! It cost me $550 for an alternator. I couldn't do it myself. It's tucked up under one of the exhaust manifolds. You have to Remove the right wheel and underpinning. Remove the motor mounts and drop the motor out the bottom to get to it!!! The rear exhaust camshaft slipped out of time and it costed me another 1250 for that. They tried to get me for 1600 but I through a fit. The camshafts are not 'keyed' to the sprockets. They'rs just sinched down tight. Any cam I've ever seen had a little bump on the end to keep it from spinning on the sprocket. Nope. Not the GM DOHC 3.4! Now having said this, I thought GTP's had super charged 3.8's. The 3.8 uses pushrods instead of DOHC. The newer Monte's come with a pushrod 3.4. I dumped mine after the timing incident a year and a half ago and bought the Silverado. It only had 50,000 miles on it too. Trust me! If it's the DOHC 3.4, RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN Forest,RUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

Oh! BTW - The mini-prix info is already up on the webite.
http://www.martinsportscarclub.com

If the GTP isn't the DOHC 3.4 I'd encourage you to bring it to Palm Bay for the regular events. You have a lot more umph than the other cars. With a few handling mods you might do pretty well. On a fast course I'd say you'd have the upper hand. On a tight 'handling' course you'd probably get stomped. But hey. It's still fun, tight?

97+ up is hte supercharged 3.8L

I know I am very very very worried about the GTP. Its that or even possible a Chrysler Sebring convert. Now that would be wierd.

I am currently talking my dad into maybe getting the car back up to my bro in Indiana, getting the Dakota down here for me to drive while I fix up my car slowly over a series of weeks.

I have been looking up stiff on clubgp.com, seems like its not that bad.

Worst comes to worse I will race 1st, to 3rd gear, I have some midrange on my car
