Paging 5litereater
Paging 5litereater
Hey man...
Remember talking about the t-top conversion
Important parts I have
-t-tops L, R
-Center divider
-recievers
-T-top holders in the trunk(need bolts to mount)
Not so important I have
-rear t-top reciever cover trim pieces
Part swaiting for someone to ship out already paid for
-T-top weatherstripping
-t-top a-pillar pieces
-top windshield weatherstripping
Need
-T-top headliner, but I will hold off until I get them cut in, before I get one
Of the important pieces, all I need are weatherstripping, I hear the top windshield weatherstripping is not neccessary(and I think you said the same) but I got it for ~$3, and the rest of the stuff is cosmetic.
I know you are with whistler and part out cars, I am willing to buy some t-top weatherstripping off you guys too, to maybe get the ball going on this. And I got the weatherstripping off the other guy so cheap its worth having a spare to try if I have any problems with the current or even just make my money back easy on ebay with them.
Any specific tools or parts needed I am missing?
-I have a HarborFrieght cheap sawzaw, worked for everything I ever used it on but likely needs a new blade...
-19.2 Volt Porter Cable cordless drill, might be able to put a cutting wheel on this, if we have nothing...
I believe bondo is needed? Any reccomendations?
Will any painting(of the car) be needed I am sure I will likely have to paint the area around the t-tops under the roof.
also how long do you think this will take? I can do afew of the simple things later by myself just need the help with cutting and lining up the t-tops. And working on the weatherstripping channel.

Re: Paging 5litereater
It's funny how Mark always gets credited for doing the first t-top conversion, even though, if I remember correctly, it was Jeff and I that did most of the work while Mark was freaking out about his car getting chopped up! :lol
Just messing with you Mark
Good luck on the t-top conversion Eric, it's really not that hard though. It just takes a bit of time, especially getting the stock frame braces cut out, but other than that it's a breeze. Getting it to look nice and professional is the most difficult part, and it's really not that bad. Though I didn't do any of the follow-up work to get Mark's car to stop leaking. But hey, for a first time it went really darn smooth!

I had the ***** to make the first cut, Mike had the brains to finish the job
!
I don't remember Jeff doing anything but showing up for a few minutes and us looking at his top though.

That was fun anyway, it's always cool to be the first people to do something like that. And I'm still suprised with how well it came out.Eric, depending on when you decide to do it I might be able to drop by and see if you're doing things right.
