Using someone's car as bait for a sting operation is smart, but beating people with bats will probably get you sued. You could get like 10 guys to jump the thieves, tie them up with rope real good, bring them to the OPD, and call it a citizen's arrest.

Someone would also need a video camera to get everything on tape to show the OPD.

And the little punk a$$ b!tches will get a slap on the wrist and be out doing it again in less than 2 months. Broken bones will hurt a lot longer than the arrest would. Sorry, I no longer have any faith in our legal system. If I catch anybody ripping my stuff off, they won't walk for a while.

i think the entire central florida needs better law enforcement.

at my work in daytona, we had break ins almost every single day. AND we had cameras in the back that showed the suspect. the volusia PD never really did anything.

my car was broken into and the police told me i left my doors unlocked (even tho my window seal was ripped). they broke into my 94 ford probe (one of the hardest cars to get into) and took CHANGE from my ashtray. i wasnt worried about the change, just mad that someone would go digging through my car for a few quarters.

bah... crack head bums suck!

Unfortunately they make all their revenue from writing traffic tickets so that's where they focus their efforts. How much money do they get if they catch the dirt bag that's breaking into cars? Notta.

A very old family friend is on Orange County (Waterford is their jurisdiction). He lives right down the road and loves stings. I'll talk to him and try to get the inside info. They may already be investigating and know who the thieves are, but if they are trying to crack a whole crime ring, they'll wait to catch bigger fish, otherwise there'll just be new guys replacing the little fish. 2 years ago in the waterford parking lot 14 cars disappeared in broad daylight in a 10 day span. 26 others were broken into. I believe it was traced back to a crime ring based out of Tampa. If you guys are interested in a "citizen's sting" perhaps it's doable, but we'd have to go through the right channels. What we can do is get the word out amongst ALL car clubs that this is going on and with properly collected info, protest Waterford Lakes (Simon Malls) and Orange County to actively pursue the problem. If the numbers you guys are stating about recent break-ins is correct then Simon Malls can be held liable, but it will take group-action (not that kind Anazasi) to get the ball rolling. As I said, I'll look into it with my officer friend. Perhaps a few high-dollar cars that are being surveiled will entice the perps to move-in.

My experience with Simon malls is they flat out do not give a ****.

ITs a huge problem it was real bad along time ago I know a car thefts were more prevalent. The cops that I talk to on the weekend nights that patrol waterford actually kinda thought it was stupid kids from my ghetto complex(river reach, government subsidized) but my little e-pass evidence points to someone nearer to Valencia.

If you guys want to set up a sting, you guys can chip in and put a kickass sound system in my car, and I will park behind the movie theater 5 days a week.

Mike, I'm moving into River Park! I wouldn't think anyone would want anything from an Explorer, but what if you come over to play???

I do drive it, like to school and stuff, and sometimes to work. Right now they are working on my neighborhood and its like all dirt, so I haven't drove it in a week or two, but if I'm like going to my friends house or going out, I won't take it. On rare ocasions I'll take it out, just not worth getting it trashed.
