open longtubes is fun :-)
14 hours from start to stop, including trips to mcdonalds and discount auto...
got new plugs, hooker longtubes, stock length wires routed, all installed and everything perfect. passenger side was a little tough, the last bolt on the stock manifolds was designed by satan. installing the longtubes was EASY as hell, just slid the stuff in place, only had the car maybe 2 feet off the ground. both went in from the bottom.
so, now i need an exhaust shop to put my y-pipe on and connect it to my stock catback... any recommendations? i've heard that most won't touch a cat-less car

Yes, opened longtubes sure do sound nice. I just got my car back a few days ago after getting everything put in. My new system is great. I put a few pics up. Its so awesome to drive though when I open up the cutouts. The car is so loud is rediculous, I can't wait to set off every alarm in the UCF garages, lol.

Anyhow, the system has an offroad ypipe with electric cutouts, and the shop of course had no questions asked. It was Mike Norris over at www.norris-motorsports.com. Really nice place and they do a great job. You can get your job done there without questions.

NICE!
I want to hear them how long till you get a catback on?
Tuffy hooked did my exhaust ok, not the greatest, but they dealt with 2.5in. piping, not sure where you guys go but they wanted a CAT on my car, cutout in fornt of the CAT was cool though.

i don't know, everyone is closed sundays. hopefully monday or i'm driving with open headers on tuesday to work

actually i don't think they'll let me go to work with open headers, too loud

i'd go to norris but he's too far away, and probably requires appointment... heh this is so loud i'm afraid to drive anywhere cause i'll get a ticket.

My car is beyond the legal limit, and once you get it fixed you can go back to court and get it dropped.
My understanding from my tickets and talking to lawyers about it is, that only legal exhaust around is stock exhaust or Stock style replacement.
Catbacks are questionable, from what I here...
thing is its like blackouts, neons, illegal tint, cop usually will not hassle you about it unless they are a ****, or you do something to provoke it, like speeding. They may give you 2 tickets, one for speeding one for exhaust. But I have been running an open y-pipe, been pulled over and gotten warnings.
I jsut push in the clutch when I pass a cop, no need to draw any more attention on my car from the police

Do you already have the y-pipe, or do you need one fabricated? My mail-order y-pipe didn't fit as fabricated, so I took it to Takash Racecraft for them to heat it and get it mounted. I think I paid $75 for the labor. Takash is on 17/92 near the Lee Road intersection. There are 2-3 dealerships there, and you go behind one of them to get to their shop - I think they're behind a Honda dealership.
Not sure which county you live in, but here's the uniform traffic code as it applies to the State of Florida:

Does street racing for money count as an amateur sactioned, competitive sports event for which an entry fee is charged????
Anazazi: Beware of the fuel lines on the driver's side, and how close they are to the exit of the headers.

i have a 4" mufflex y-pipe but it doesn't match up to my 3" hooker catback...
i borrowed a friend's dB meter, numbers will be measured tomarrow morning
its still open pipes at this point, most places were closed today. hopefully monday they will re-open.
i noticed the fuel lines are real close so i wrapped them with metal tape that claims its good up till 300 degrees, so i figure as long as i'm not sitting at idle too long i should be fine. i thought i had some pics of that setup but i didn't get a chance cause i had to run.

oh, here is a picture of what was left of the metal foil wrap around the fuel lines after i took it down the street and back... not much left lol... it got blown off cause the undercarriage was dirty and it didn't get a good surface to adhear to. i've got it much better now.

To make the Mufflex Y-pipe fit you'll need a 4"->3" reducer and you'll need to shorten the intermediate pipe of your Hooker catback about a foot or so. Otherwise there just isn't enough room...

most shops can't bend 3 inch, much less work with 4. they charged a buddy in Jax $250 for a custom 3 inch y, he drove in longtubes, and drove out $250 poorer.
it's made out of about 10 peices, looks they had to cut & section pre-bent pieces, since they could not re-bend the 3 inch.
i'll send this one I got to you overnite if you want it, rather than see you drop bank at an exhaust shop.
