New Track Times!
New Track Times: 3-27-04
The guy at the timeslip shack kept tearing the slips in half, except for my last run, so I didn’t know what my first three opponents ran.
Run #1 LOST
R/T .700
60’ 2.818
330 7.126
1/8 10.235
MPH 81.27
1000 12.883
¼ 15.009
MPH 102.99
Comments: I basically screwed this run up. I turned my traction control off, powerbraked, and spun like CRAZY as I left the tree, went sideways, let off the gas, hit it again, took a while to build up speed and tried to make the best of it. I ran a C5 Corvette that probably ran a low 13 judging by how far ahead of me he was.
Run #2 WON
R/T .272
60’ 2.243
330 5.939
1/8 8.882
MPH 84.28
1000 11.417
¼ 13.556
MPH 105.01
Comments: This run was my new personal best. After I ran, I realized I accidentally left my traction control on. I babied it off the line and then hit it. I ran an ‘03 Mustang GT with a Borla catback, cold air intake, K & N filter, B & M shifter, and Cobra wheels.
Run #3 LOST
R/T .305
60’ 2.201
330 5.923
1/8 8.904
MPH 83.40
1000 11.463
¼ 13.623
MPH 103.85
Comments: I turned the traction control off for this run and it gave me my best 60’ of the day. It was getting hot out, so that might have been a reason for the lower trap speed. I ran this old guy in a Z06 that looked like he just threw money at that car. I think he had N20, because of a switch I saw. I beat him off the line, then he kept gaining on me as he shifted and finished only 1-2 cars ahead of me. I think it should have been more like 3-4, maybe the guy couldn’t shift.
Run #4 WON
R/T .184 .126
60’ 2.208 1.894
330 5.895 5.737
1/8 8.846 8.909
MPH 84.10 76.99
1000 11.389 11.689
¼ 13.538 14.031
MPH 104.42 95.81
Comments: Best time of the day. Left the traction control on and the 60’ was about the same. Ran a great-looking early 90’s IROC with chrome Z06 rims. He killed me off the line and for a while. Didn’t catch up until almost the end.
Final thought: I NEED to work on my launch!

Best advise I can give you: Nitto DR's
Get a pair put on an extra set of rims and start enjoying the sub 2.0 60 ft's and much lower ET's. With your MPH you should be right at the 13.1-13.0 range, maybe even a 12.9 with a killer launch. Get some more practice in and you'll be running faster in no time
People sometimes wonder how I drive so well at the track. You spend as much time as I did practicing(going to the track 2-3 times a month) and you'll be as good as me in no time

DRs were all I was thinking about after that first run, but I know I can cut my 60' down a little bit if I get my gas and brake timing perfect. It was pretty hot out today too, if it were in the 50s I would have ran a tad faster.
Congrats on the new times, I hope the track was hooking better last night than it was Wednessday.
I was on Nittos Wed. and a 2.12 60' was the best I could pull no matter what technique I used. It was aggrivating, the car was even spinning hard on the 1-2 shift. I didn't top my old best, but did manage a 13.344 @ 106.08 closed up, and a 13.301 @ 106.62 w/ my cut out open. I have plenty of MPH, just can't get down the track. It's frustrating, the car pulled consistent 2.00's when all stock on the factory good years.

Yeah, the old dude in that Z06 was incredible, lol.
I was checking out his car when it was next to mine. He had the shift boot removed and had this switch right in front of the shifter bar, but I didn't know what it was for. He was running race fuel too because I saw him fueling up when I got there. If he were driving an LS1 Corvette I probably would have been even with him or maybe even won.
DOH! My bad, I've had sveral people tell me I need to go there lately. It's just such a drive from here. OSW is only about a 35-40 minute ride for me. The hook is just so inconsistent there. I think the Nittos I have been using are getting old, they seemed to spin real bad on the street the next day. I actually don't spin as bad on the 1-2 shift on my radials when street driving.
