Need advice on purchase
I found a 1990 Iroc-z with the original 350 with tuned port injection, a 323 posi rear end, k&n filters, after market headers, valve covers, and flowmaster exhaust all in absolute perfect condition for 4k. He said the timing was set for it to be a 1/4 mile car so it should be a lot quicker and he never set it back. It seemed just as fast if not faster than a 69 firebird 400 4spd i test drove a few months ago. this car has nothing wrong with it and looks like it's right out of the factory, by far the cleanest 3rd generation camaro i have ever seen in my life. what kind of performance am i looking at with this kind of car 0-60 and 1/4 mile wise? and what might this car be worth in the future? he's only asking 4k obo and remember i'm only 18 and this would be my first rear wheel drive car

I had an 88 GTA, same basic set up, 350TPI, auto, and ran 14.7 stock. With some minor stuff and learning to drive it I was down in the low 14s, but I cant remember exact numbers. Mine seemed extaordinarily fast for what it was though. The 90 should come stock with dual cats, or at least it was an option I think.
I think advertised numbers 0-60 was 7.2, but I am not absolutely sure.
Sounds like a good deal. It is hard to find them in nice shape nowadays.
If you are looking for fast, I would wait to get eiter an LT1 or LS1 car. I only paid $3600 for my 98 Z28 and it is in extremely nice shape. Higher mileage, but extremely well cared for.

Yeah that is exactly what I had on mine. I had to add the dual cats though because 88 didnt come with them. At the time(quite a few years back), and still today, it seems like everyone thinks they are much slower. Hell 14.30 is LT1 4th gen range, or pretty close. I think I actually hit 14.1s at some point, but I cant remember what I did with the time slips. Its been about 10 years now.
