Moving to Winter Park/Need Mechanic?

I will be moving down to winter park this tuesday(the 10th). The apartment complex does not allow me to work on my car in the lot and I will be unable to bring any of my tools. I was wondering if anyone knew any good mechanics in the area or shops that specialize in LT1's. Thanks guys

Welcome, I definately agree......check out www.lethallyinjected.net and sign up for the forums. Most of us work on our own cars and love to play with LT1's.

Hope to see you there!

Re: Moving to Winter Park/Need Mechanic?

Thanks guys. As soon as I arrive and move in I need to do some work to the beast. About 2 days before the car was going to be picked up by the shipping company I started to have a problem at wide open throttle when it shifts from 1st to 2nd. When at WOT, just as it is about to shift, the car seems to just die off and start to backfire. If I let off the throttle and ease back into it everything is fine. Also, if I am driving normally around, I experience no problems. This ONLY happens between first and second at WOT, not between any other shifts. At the same time as this started happening I noticed a rattling coming from my cat, so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it(being restricted or something) or if it was just a circumstance of the formentioned problem. I first thought opti, but it happens at no other time or rpm's except at WOT between first and second. Any ideas??? I'm lost, my ideas are vacuum hose, opti, or possibly just a problem in the cat. Any input is appreciated, or if anyone has a scanner that can help me out soon after I get there please let me know. Thanks guys

Check the color of your Tranny fluid. I had the same problems, and it turned out a bad tranny that went out on me. It would race allt he way up, but once it got up there it would just back fire and didnt want to shift unless I let off a little.

I also happened to have a bad opti along with other ignition problems with my car. But even before those got worse and it was just my WOT shiftign problems, Brett Downs, "LT1_Brutus" on here, told me that he had the same problems once with his car, his tranny was toast, and that was the cause of that. Mine also started withe a specific shift,a nd then it got worse. I will try to search some of my old post on here and get the details.

Re: Moving to Winter Park/Need Mechanic?

Here are some of the post from a while back in the LT1 Tech forum: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94476 Well thats the only one I found on this forum. As you can tell I spoke too soon in that post, and it finnaly gave out on me out of nowhere in December. But all others who posted in that thread signaled the tranny.

Re: Moving to Winter Park/Need Mechanic?

Sure is...but not enough to deal with it yet...if the tranny blows I will just get a built t-350 and not deal with an automatic valve body anymore , but for now as long as I don't floor it ALL the way it works fine, which is more than enough throttle to beat 90% of all the ricers i've seen around
