Looking for a Fiero

How often do you see that? But Im looking for a little side project to do and Im leaning towards a late model Fiero to swap a blown 3.8 from a GTp into. I cant imagine the car would be that expensive. I do need the 5 speed but it need not run, and the motor doesnt even need to be in it. Paint doesnt have to be great, but i would like a straight body with decent interior. And I need it to be one of the cooler looking i guess they are GT models? TH eones with all the ground effects.

So if anybody knows where there is one sitting let me know. The cheaper the better. Same goes for if anyone knows where a wrecked GTp is that i can snag the motor and harness out of.

Too bad you want a GT with a stick. I would have the perfect project. A competition yellow '84 with a donor Cadillac 4.5 V8, 4 speed auto. I just don't have the time or desire right now to do everything.

I take it the Fiero is an auto car too? If not I might be interested, but just in the car i kinda have my heart set on the GTP swap.

Look at Pennock Fiero forum www.fiero.nl There are always plenty of cars for sale. Another good source is auto trader.com

About 50% of fiero's were automatics.

Alas, it is an automatic. With the direction I was going, none of the stick shifts were going to live behind a V8, that's why the Caddy 4.5 and 4 speed auto swap. Just in case, here's a link to a pic.

Re: Looking for a Fiero

I was wanting to do the same thing 2 months ago for an autocross car. I soon found that just about any GT with a manual wasn't gonna be cheap. I couldn't find a decent V6 with manual tranny Fiero in the state for less than 4-5 grand. 88's have a better suspension so they're even more.

I ended up driving to PA for an 85 V6 Automatic car that was already stripped and modified for autocrossing. If you ever get to do the swap let me know. I'd want to help if possible. I might still do the swap on mine someday. I was told that the 3.8's oil pickup is at the front (side actually when in the car) of the block and can easily get starved under severe cornering so I would want to investigate further into that before going through with it.

But the thought of a SC 3800 in a 2000 pound Fiero really sounds awesome to me. Think of the cones I could kill. lol

Here's one if you don't mind driving for it. It'll probably go cheap because of the bad engine. It doesn't have the fastback rear window either but it does have the nice aero front bumber and a manual transmission.

Yeah Ive ben keeping an eye on Ebay, but this areas showing promise I think I can find one around here. Autotrader.com had one basically like that, with a 5 speed and 2.8 by the Tampa Airport for 1000. And There was an 88 GT V6 5 speed in AUtotrader magazine, that looked and ran great for $2400 so Im thinking I can snag one that doesnt run for 800-1200. Especiallly if its not an 88.

I guess at this point I jsut want one thats not a notchback with the manual. Then I can just apply all the GT trim myself.

Ive also been talking to a guy that specializes in L67s, looks like I can get my full engine set-up for about 1200 shipped

That thing has been for sale for over a year. There must be something up with that. That is, if it's the one I'm thinking of..... the ad says "perfect for a kit car conversion".
