Jim Rathmann Chevy sucks
Jim Rathmann Chevy sucks
They have a 2001 SS. Pretty nice car with 11000 miles. I spent 2 hrs. negotiating the down and monthly payments. The next day I go to give them my check and pick up the car. While I'am filling out the paperwork the "sales manager" says he doesnt think he can sell for the agreed to price. I told him I was there the night before and struck a deal with the salesmen and let them throw out the last offer. Then he procedes to "inform" me that "you know, they dont make these anymore". Like I care. I'am trading in my 95Z. I have forgotten more about Camaros than he'll ever know. I walked out just as he was starting to say something. He called my house before I even got home. The dealership has called about 5 times at home and at work. I went to Bob Steele Chevy and left with a beautiful 2000 Z M6. Got a phone call the next day from the finance manager telling he found me a better rate and was able to shorten the payment length. Saved me 2600 bucks when he didnt have to. Thats customer service.

You should drive your new Z to Rathmann and show it to the Sales Manager.

I got my 2000 Z from Rathman, I got a good deal, but it took a few days of negotiating. Rathman service blows, don't take your car there for waranty work or they will pick apart anything to void you. They say my M6 has an aftermarket shift kit, so they can't touch driveline problems. It has a SLP installed Hurst in it! I am still fighting this one. I am going to either Palm Bay Chevy or Bob Steele for future service.

I know Palm Bay Chevy and Rathman are owned by the same people, but I know the manager at PBC and we get along quite well. He will go the extra mile for most of the f-body people and will make sure I get what I need done without hassle. If you didn't know, we have had a car show at PBC in the past and it will be coming back in the up coming weeks.
I had a terrible experience with Rathman also! The salespeople were fine. When I bought my car they were doing the "no haggle" thing. But there service dept is another story!!
I took the car in for an ABS Inop light. They called me at work and told me they would not touch the car because it was modified. At the time the only mods were subframe connecters, Ebich Springs, Bilsteins, CAI, and a cat back. They said that the suspension mods voided the warrenty on the ABS. When I went to pick up the car, one of the customer service reps came out and appoligized to me. He said that the problem was not the suspension mods. Instead he told me that they were getting an error code from the CPU and they didn't know how to clear it. To make matters worse, he then told me that they knew of another customer that had the same problem and gave me the customer's home phone number. They told me that they could not fix the problem, but maybe their customer could. Can you believe that! A factory authorized dealer telling me that they can not fix the car and suggesting I bother some guy I don't even know! The real topper was that I wrote a letter to the dealership to complain and they didn't even give me the courtisy of a response!! I took the car to another dealer who fixed it under warrenty with no problems.
I will never buy another car from Rathman. Who wants to buy from a place that can't work on their own products.
I havn't had any service work done at Steele, but their sales people seem friendly and the parts people are great.
