Jacksonville guys, need help
Jacksonville guys, need help
I might be taking a job down in Jacksonville for the summer months, but it's quite the relocation from (not so) beautiful Dayton, Ohio.
How much should I be able to get a 1 bedroom appt for? Like I said, I just need it for the summer so I really cant sign a 6 month lease or anything. And how is the cost of living down there? Is there a lot of stuff to do afterwork?
Anything you can tell me about the area that wont be mentioned in a local moving guide would be great.
Thanks a ton,
Chuck

Re: Jacksonville guys, need help
Chuck, I live about 1.5hrs south in the Daytona/Ormond Beach area. I haven't spent too much time in Jax, but I do have a little knowledge of the area. I think some of it depends on what area you're going to be working/living in. Jacksonville is the largest city in the U.S. square mileage wise, so there are some differences throughout the area.
For the most part, the average cost of living isn't too bad. I'm not exactly sure what a nice 1bdrm apartment in Jax would go for, but a quick check on rent.com shows that most start around $450/$485 and go up from there.
There are always bars, clubs, restaurants for afterwork, and the Jax f-body website is River City F-Bodies.
Hope that helps a little bit. Feel free to ask me any other questions, and I'll try my best to help ya out.

Stay away from the northside and west side. Its going to be hard to find a 1 bedroom out of the hood for less than $500. Some people like Jax but alot of others dont. Im finishing up at UNF this semester and cannot wait to move. This place is kinda like a nasty little atlanta. Stay around the southside near UNF and you sould be alright. You can get a an individual lease at melrose apartments for around 400. Its supposed to be the student complex but it kinda sucks now, theres a bunch a geto *** people living in there with their kids. Basically a typical jacksonville situation.
