Currently in "south" Florida, there are 2.
moroso and Immokolee
Immok is an 8th mile, but plans are to increase.
Moroso is in West Palm

There's been talk about the Homstead Race Track opening a drag strip down there for the past 2-3 years. But nothing has ever come of it.

I Agree you would gets lots of business in Orlando Area... cause Speed world went from charging $10 last season ( track in poor condition *UNLESS there was a event a couple of days before OR the had event cars testint and tuning the night before the event*
and THIS SEASON there charging 15 bucks and that track gets no better prep. I THINK that people would be GLAD pay $15 bucks to goto the track every test and tune night if it was in good prep condition.... I think Orlando charge everyone who goes there so much this season because the filled a few pot holes and had the drive into the tracked re paved ...

Just My .02,
Ed
( I pay the $15 to goto Orlando , only cause I cant Afford $150 or more in fines for racing on the street )

So there's only one drag strip in central Florida, and it isn't a very good one.I have family down there and think FL would be the best location for one in the U.S.How many strips are there in north FL.So you guys think if I built a really nice 1/4 mile drag strip alot of people would go.How many cars show up on a weekend/weekday.Thanks for all the help already.

Well I have been to Orlando speed world, plenty of times, as for busy, I have been there where the lines are 6 lanes wide, go back about 60 yards, do a 90 degree turn and go back another 200 yards, and further.

here is a bad pic but I woudl say a normal night is like this(not all f-bodies mostly imports and rice, but usually that amount of cars and alot more.)

Is it a good track or is it something convenient to go to.Is it NHRA
complient or do they let anyone race anything.I would start one that wouldn't have to comply.I would also want to put a performance shop on the premises possibly a dyno.Does anyone know about north FL.

There is Gainseville Raceway(north/central,fl) which is a NHRA track that hosts a NHRA national event(Mac Tools Gatornationals). Jacksonville (north,fl) has an 1/8 th mile track and I think Pensacola (panhandle) has an 1/8 mile track also.

Even with Orlando speedworld in existence I think you would do well if marketed right. If it were a first class operation you would attract all sorts of events including local biz. The Orlando track is 30 miles NE from my house and I live in southwestern Orlando. If you build it on the west side of Orlando you would pick up plenty of customers. I have always hoped that Disney would catch on as they have plenty of property that is already zoned for racing (oval track) and no neighbors to complain about the noise. I would pay a premium for a great set up & I'm sure other would agree.

The only thing around the panhandle (Ft.Walton Beach area) is over in Holt, it's an 1/8th mile and is horrible, the track set-up is terrible, it would be outstanding to have another track in this area that was worth a $%$%.

I agree with cjks, we need one in the nothern area. One northern floridians and southern alabama, georgia can all goto and have a 1/4 track. That is a superb area and plenty of land around. There are thousands of fbodies, vettes and bikes in this area esp from the military. We have 3 bases all within an hour of each other. Cost of living is also cheaper than southern florida.

cjks, im on hurlburt fld too, met one guy with a fbody there. White covt. t/a with supercharger. Too many fbodies on this base lol.

Yeha SLp Apprecittion day...

IT was awesome, I got there around 7-7:30 am, by 8:30 the lines were on both entrance ways and like 1/4 mile on the side of the road off coloonial.

I think I heard somewhere, about 200+ f-bodies running in time trials, and about 120ish in Eliminations, and that does not include the tons and tons f people that did car show only. The place was packed! many many cool cars out there, and 85% I woudl say were f-bodies, rest were vettes, impys, and GTPs.
