what's the matter, you can afford a corvette...right!

GM seams to think so, isnt that why they axed the fbody? cause corvettes are oh so affordable and economical as a daily driver?

You could get a Z for 20k. That's not much more than a new Civic and lass than a Camry.

Considering you get performance close to a C5 Vette. That's pretty cheap!

unless you go for the hottest color (sunset metalic), the SS package, and the last year of production...they were pretty affordable...and cheaper on insurance than any corvette..

Hehe, Chuck got poked at

I agree, I know people that got fairly optioned out Z's for about 22k, not bad at all considering the performance out of the box and potential and decent build quality.

Great! I've been 'outed'! And I didn't even know I was gay. First I'm the new blow in town, then I'm intimate with my blow gun, now I'm getting poked. I swear! No respect! No respect I tell ya! I get no respect! Rodney Dangerfield gets more respect than me! Geeze!

If $20k isn't so much can I have $10k so I can get a nice used one

The f-body was probably the best bang for the buck in performance, but it seems like they could have cut some corners to maybe keep the price a little lower . Most z28s would be considered a very very nicely optioned v6.

Considering My 94 was $13k new off the lot and my dad's 2000 was abotu $15k new off the lot, seems like limted slip 1 piece driveshaft, a tranny, engine, and better tires does not cost $5-7k on top of the cost already spent for installin the current powertrain.

Maybe one reason the Stang had an increase in sales beyond advertising. Granted a performance guy knows most f-bodies take out Stangs in performance, but on average I say they cost slightly less, and to the average person the difference was negligible.

I know my camaro is a great performer, but why ax it... What I think would be good in a come back is the v6 exactly the same price as a v6 stang and an aftermarket to boot. Then just match the v8 camaro to teh stang in price and options, but shoot for a few HP more and a few 1/10ths quicker. Not the drastic beating we give most.

Just ramblings of a man who is bummed the new stang is coming out and there is no real gm pony car IMO. I am consider the possibility of a grand prix as my next ride...

If Ford ups the power on the GTs and Cobras, I'll bet it's an attempt to lure us F-Body guys over to the Ford side, because GM isn't making anything competitive against the Mustang right now, and if GM does bring back the F-Body, Ford will have had a lot of F-Body guys switch to Ford by the time GM resurrcects the F-Body.
