in florida you get your license suspended if your driving without insurance or don't have insurance, i'm not entirly sure which it is yet.

does anyone know any info about the florida laws on insurance (or lack thereof) and the suspension of a driver's license because of lack of insurance?

 

if u have a car in ur name( registered in the state of florida) and there is no insurance on it, they can suspend ur license till u have proof of ins! i got pulled over and officer found out i had no ins and gave me a ticket for a court date, when i went to court i had already went and got insurance, so i was told to go home. hope that helps

 

I assume you're wanting to go after the guy who hit you with no insurance. If the vehicle was in his name, go to the cops. He won't be picked up and arrested most likely. But they will serve him notice that his license is being suspended and issue a citation for not maintaining insurance on a vehicle being driven. Then if he presented proof of insurance to the cop they can get him for another offense too. But most likely they'll say that there was no "criminal intent" and just send him a letter in the mail with an additional citation for not carrying the insurance.

If the vehicle wasn't in his name they won't do anything at all since it wasn't his responsibility for keeping insurance on the vehicle and the owner would just have to say he took it without permission. That's what happened with my fiasco. At least I have a piece of paper from the court saying they owe me money now. I need to start harassing those butt-wipes for my money here pretty soon.


... But yes, to answer your question... Fla does suspend your license if you have vehicles registered in your name and you don't maintain insurance on at least one of them.
