I ran an M5 the other night on 417. Damn those cars are fast. It would have to be one bad *** benz to beat any 4th gen V8. At least to out and out beat one. The M5 was hanging just behind my rear bumper from the time we both smoked them out of the toll plaza. then we ran up over 130mph accross Lake Jessup. About that time he began creeping up and then I topped out and he rolled on past and was out of sight soon.

No Benzes though.

I said nothing about LS1 or LT1 and I will say it again--It would have to be one Bad *** benz to beat any 4th gen fbody. Unless of course the guy was an idiot and could not drive. I cannot think of one Benz that can run better than 14 in the quarter mile stock unless it is an AMG or an E55. You dont have any info validating what you have either. Just a Mercedes Benz. Now if it is in the price range of a new TA then it cant be better than a C320 and they are not nearly that fast. Hell my 626 is as fast as one of them.

So when you are done bad mouthing LT1 cars I guess I can stop bad mouthing the over priced car you have.

 

You have problems bro...Im not bad mouthing the LT1...I love all f-bodys....I have a 1997 E420 that beats LT1's new Gt's, lightnings etc...If you dont believe me, i could give 2 ****s...If you wanna take this personal....ill be glad to meet you.

 

Of course if you just say LT1 car it could be just an Impy or better yet a Custom Cruiser. At least I admit that the BMW was faster. And with a better driver he may have really beat me. At least the specs I have read say so.

 

Ta's Benz pulled a car on me from a 50 punch with my mods as listed in sig. I am for the most part stock as you can see.

E420 is rated at 275hp.

It was very close but he edged me out. And yes, I am running right. He also beat a 2002 GT M5.

 

A 99 E430 can only do the quarter in 15.1 at 84mph and has a top end of 130. I dont have any specs on a 97 420 but Im willing to guess it is not in the 13s.

implying that an LT1 is slow.

 

He was implying that the LT1 driver was cocky. I know TA in person and I can definitely vouch for his credibility. And no, it doesn't run a 13, but then again, we didn't run a standing 1/4 mile... read what I posted again. It was a 50 punch. More specifically, he had about a car on me by 110. If you want to imply that that must mean I am not running right, sure, whatever. The 2002 GT must not have been either, cause the results were identical. I wasn't weighed down or anything, aside from having a passenger, but I am confident that in optimal conditions from the same 50 punch he would still pull me.

Also...I posted this to see if this guy was a member of this board, not to turn into flames...So why dont you go post on a topic where you are wanted.

 

I never said it could not be done. I simply said it would have to be a badass Benz. I have also seen 97 Camaro SS with tons more mods than yours pull low 14s best times, while I was running 13.7 totally stock in a 96 TA totally missing 3rd gear and recovering to pull a trap speed of just over 104. So driver plays a lot into this.

By the way I have a buddy with a hardtop 2001 GT and I beat him in my convertible by over 3 car lengths every night after work. I mean every night. He only beat me once when I forgot to flip off the traction control and it was not by more than a car length. I dont think a 2002 is all that much faster than a 2001. He swears that he can beat his buddy's LS1 TA back in North Florida, so the stories are out there.
