Coolant Prob
Driving to the doctor and I notice steam is coming from under the hood.. I pull over and it is flowing like mad out of the reservoir... I then make it to 7-11 and try to fill the radiator and it is coming out faster than it is going in..
Opinions? 82,000 on the clock
So is there a better stock GM radiator.. It is at the dealership now and if/when they replace it I would like to upgrade it if GM has one that is worth upgrading to... It is a 1997 Z...
Could be the water pump too, but how do you know? Usually, I would look into this myself, but this is not the time for me to play with my ride it must be done ASAP and the dealership here could do that for me..

Fans Yes
Air in Line No
Radiator holds coolant NO
Pumping Can't tell
Currently Hollier is looking at it..Once I get their estimate I will post the results, but can anyone recommend any shops that might be as good as a dealer but might save me a buck or two. If it is the pump which I can not confirm yet thought someone who has dealt with optios before should do it..

you said it was coming out of the resevoir...
that means that your radiator cap is not holding the 18# of pressure the lt1 has for it's coolant system
i had the same problem, it would heat up and basically overflow into the holding tank and then bubble out the resevoir. it's a simple thing to check, costs like $5 for a new cap, just make sure it's a 18# pressure one.

Chevy claims the water pump is fine
Chevy claims the radiator is fine
Chevy is now checking the block and a few other tests
I tell ya it was pouring out the middle of the radiator, out of the resovior and was pegged hot... 3 months ago I flushed the system, let all the air out.. Wouldn't it be my luck it was some fluke thing with no problem... AGH... We will see.. I hope it is not a block problem...

Man they are gonna rape you on all these tests they're doing. As if they don't know what's wrong.
PLEASE! They need to replace the thermostat and see if it overheats again. If not, all is good. Normally you have to agree to an hour of diagnostic labor. Then they'll spend 4 hours on it, say they need more time approved, then fix the obvious problem. You end up paying for a ton of diagnostic labor because they don't know their head from their ****. If they try this on you just tell them to pack it up and take it home. You are only liable for what you approved, one hour.

I'll help ya look it over.

So as soon as I can get someone to get me a bolt, I'll fix my crap and I'm free to help with whatever you gotta do.
