No, it's just a proposed bill. The last line of the bill says it will be effective July 1, 2007.

I never turn my detector on any more because it's pretty useless when you have all the unmarked police cars in every make from truck to sports car. They dont need readar as much to get you! you drive right past them and dont even know it until they turn on their lights.

They still gotta clock you to give you a speeding ticket. I kinda thought that was the idea of the detector, to detect when your being clocked even when you cant see the cops.

where i drive....they leave the radar/laser off untill they want to paint you.

by then it's too late....detector or not.

they just aren't as effective as they use to be.

Nope, not that I'm aware of - can't find out what happened to it. Maybe it died in committee or something?

Got my insurance renewal in the mail and they did do away with PIP (no fault), and added $4.08 for "FL Hurricane GAT fund" for the next six months - whatever the hell that is.

I bought a used V1 a few years ago, and after about a year I left it out of the car. Too much instant on radar and it was a false sense of confidence.

I gotta tell you, I put 1000 miles a week on the company car and since I started sticking the radar detector in there, I have only been hit by 1 instant on and it was a laser. Most troopers ride around with their Ka radars on. Sherrif have Ka and some K band, but also typically have them on. The grey Mustang, the grey Dodge pickup, the Magnum, and all the regular Crown Vics have them on all the time too. And if you drive in typical traffic, even the instant ons will be evident when they clock someone else in front of you. Although I havent run into one yet. What really sucks is when one is riding along with you because the damn thing never shuts up. You might not see them, but that Passport just keeps screaming at you. Then you realize that stupid looking blue Dodge Caliber is actually a cop.

I really dont go over about 9mph over the limit, but the radar detector reminds me to double check regularly. And from my house in Deland to Orlando I only get one X false alarm around Lee Rd.

I used to have cheapo detectors and never trusted them, but this one I have now is great. I wouldnt completely give up on paying attention, but they have to see you to use instant on, and you can see them too by then.

Eh who cares, I always stay within 10 MPH of the limit and with more and more departments getting Vascar systems; I never saw a need for one....
