Anyone have an electric impact wrench?
if it's gonna take a few days your more than welcome on taking my air compressor/ air tools to your place, it works off of 110v. Or if you need me to I can drop it off... the Z is gonna be down for a few months anyway and I pretty much have no use for it!!!
Hey Jason, I did springs, struts, shocks and a front bar on mine in way less than a day. I'm not sure what all you're doing but I've got the garage and the tools if you're interested. An impact wrench is a must when you're doing front suspension work on our cars.
Hey Jeff!
Did you guys run out at Tavares yesterday? I was all packed up and ready to go until it started pouring... (I know, excuses, excuses)
But to answer your question I'll be installing the following:
- Koni SA front shocks
- 3rd Gen Bilstien rear shocks
- ST 35mm front sway bar
- Poly endlinks & bushings for stock rear bar
- Adjustable panhard rod (w/rod ends)
- K&N CAI
- B&B Tri-flow catback (if it gets here on time)
- New tailights & wiring harness
Its not really a big deal to do it all by hand. My only concern is getting the nut off the front shocks since they're probably rusted together by now. An impact wrench would come in handy there.
I appreciate the offer to use your garage but I wanted to take my time on this so I'm figuring on a few days for everything. Also I have five days off for Christmas, and another five off for New years so I'll need something to do

J ... nothing electric but you can borrow my air compressor and air tools if you would like. I can deliver in the truck but you need to stop by and load the compressor into the truck. I have spring compressors for the shocks if you need them. I am also off from work Dec 19th until Jan 5th (17 days) so if you need something drop me an email and let me know (tools, opinions, etc).
Later ... Larry S.

Jeff had to work Sunday; Chuck injured his panhard rod and drove the last three runs in Glenn's car; I ran GTR since the board kicked me out of GTP due to the cam. Details on the MCO site.
Ya better start coming out after installing that stuff! And I don' wanna hear 'scuses about mist in the air!

The sick part is I'll still be running the stock springs. But Sam says it will work fine. Plus I'm using the lower spring perch on the Koni's so the car will still get lowered a little.
Larry,
Thanks for the offer!
I will probably take you up on it if I can't borrow an electric one somewhere. I will keep you posted one way or the other.
I totally understand wanting to do it in your own garage at your own pace. I'm off from Dec. 23rd thru Jan 5th so if you need some help or want to do it here just let me know. You're right that the top nut on the front struts can be a real bitch without air tools so don't try it without them.
Look forward to seeing you at the January 3rd autocross with all of your mods in place.

Add my name to the list Jason. I'm still temporarily retired so whenever...
Here's a video of what you missed on Sunday. Sorry dial up guys, 40 megs. Hopefully I'll never have to drive a Ford again. I really didn't like it. The brakes were better but it had a lot more body roll and the throttle was very sensitive, almost like an on/off button. I'll get the panhard fixed soon though. Be sure to get those jam nuts tightened down on yours. Mine didn't get tightened down and I didn't realize there was a problem until the threads began to wear on the aluminum rod. I tightened them up but now they actually pop in and out a few threads during extreme cornering. Fine for daily driving but NO GOOD for autocross. I think I'll try a thread repair helicoil or something.
And again Jim, that was an awesome final fun run you had. I have your video now but the sound isn't attached yet. I'm not sure I want to be in the same class with you Jeff and Glenn next year. I'm gonna have to eat all the smack talk I've thrown around this year. Where can I find some more newbies to pick on?

Thanks, but I just got lucky
You still took almost 2 seconds off my best lap in my car...and that's all driver. I know David Lehman was using his Hoosiers late in the day, and I think his times were in the 51's. What impressed me so much was how close you got to the Z06 & Miata times, just on my new street tires.
We should be thankful you haven't taken Evo (yet)!
I don't know what else she needs besides good rubber on wide wheels, but I want her in regular contention for TTD! It would be tres cool to sneak Sam into the Novice group at a MSCC event if he comes down this spring
Nobody would know his face, and there's only a remote chance that the Evo participants would remember the name being mentioned in class. We'd have to get him a generic helmet, though!
I wouldn't terribly mind following in Bobo's footsteps, either. But the expenses ...
Jason - Didn't you say VCC has autox events as well? Where do I get details on those events? I need more seat time, and 3 minutes out of the month is insufficient.

The aluminum stuff is lighter, and it has the pimp factor going for it but I feel better knowing there will be a solid piece of steel holding my axle in place.

FYI your car will probably be classed into SM (Street Modified) with them. Doesn't really matter if you're just running for fun but if you're looking to win you may have a tough time against superchared M3's & Miata's
