I'm sure there are some members on here that would do it for a lot less than a shop...just a thought

Re: any shops that will finish install on headers?

the car is in a shop right now getting finished. it's probably the last shop i want it to be at (irish mikes ), but i got conformation from them on sun that they would finish it mon morning. i wanted to go someplace else like american motorsports or norris motorsports but i only get 5 miles free towing on my AAA card and both are a pretty far distance from me. also not knowing if those shops could even work on it today until 8am on this morning wasn't good. oh well you live and you learn. half the work is already done getting the old stuff off. w/ the right tools and better knowledge they should have it back together soon.

Re: any shops that will finish install on headers?

they called me to inform me there was a broken bolt in the block (i should have known that since there was a stud sticking out), so this little project isn't going to be cheap. i refuse to take it back there again for what they're charging me but i don't want to deal w/ going there to get my car towed somewhere else not knowing how much it will cost and when it can be fixed. i'm going to be a real b**** about the car when i pick it up and i'll make them re-tighten the bolts if the headers leak. i can definitely say i'm not doing anything else to the car.

When I had troubles with my car when I was in Orlando for school, I also used AAA and it got towed to Irish Mikes. The truck driver was a @ss making me sign a waiver. I had to put in my own handwriting that I wouldn't hold him responsible if he damages my car while putting it on the flatbed. He claimed my car was lowered when I told him it had stock WS-6 suspension. I also started up my car the driver asked if I had nitrous on it I told him yes and he said he could tell by the way the motor sounded. Anyways they also charged me double my estimate and my car had to be returned twice to fix all the problems and my alarm system is still messed up from them poking around under the dash not knowing what they were doing.

I've never heard anything good about Irish Mike's shop. I used their towing services a few times when the driver was a neighbor. But when he told me he could get ported LS1 heads for $600, I steered clear.

I'd bite the bullet and let them finish it correctly. You're definitely not doing anything else to the car because of your IRish Mike's experience?

i won't even say how much they are charging me to finish my car. lets just say they are taking off the block to remove a broken bolt and thats 10 hours of labor right there. plus other parts here and there and more labor. after i pick up my car tomorrow i'm never going there again no matter how much of a jam i'm in. i'll pay to have my car towed some place farther away.

all of my friends and family have been telling me to just leave the car alone. i worked a lot of hours over winter break and i went ahead and bought the headers since i knew people who would help put them on. what started out as a reatively cheap install turned into one big expensive mess. i need to save my money for more important things instead of a my car.

Ouch! Which bolt is broken?

So... what happened to the people who would help put them on? I certainly agree that one tends to open a can of worms the more you mess with the car.
