Haynes manual is your freind...

go to a car store even a bookstore, and just pick up a haynes manual good stuff to have regardless...

most thermostats are just remove 2 bolts put it int and put 2 botls on.

Though some require removing crap to get to that spot.

yes but this is an LT1, nothing is that easy on the LT1

with that being said, its not hard. some people aparently change the t-stat without draining any coolant out but i was never that adventurous because i was worried about my opti.

just drain enough out of the radiator to get it below the level of the t-stat, then put plenty of rags around the t-stat housing to protect from spillage and remove the two bolts... out comes the old one and put in your new one (make sure its not upside down).

then but the housing back on, and start bleeding the system. just open the two bleeder screws and start filling till air stops comming out (move around the hoses to get the last bit out) and screw the bleeder screws tight again. do this with the car off.

put on the air bellows, make sure the overflow is at the proper level, and turn on the car... make sure there are no leaks and your good to go. of course, check the temperature every once and awhile for the first few miles just in case but there shouldn't be any problems.

To add to this, the two bolts are 10mm. Should take you tops 30 min taking your time.

how much i would love to do this myself. i think i am goin to let someone else do it. i do not want to run the risk of getting coolant on the opti or on the other hand having my car overheat!
