Used to own my own business, but closed it out last year.. Just looking at options since I need a new one for the wife..

I have seen a few big vendors selling boxes, boards, chips no OS, no monitor, no accessories for 299 and less...

You can do better then 299 for just box ($30 w/PS) mobo ($40 for dell/hp quality to $100 for near best) and chip $150 will get you a 2.8c HT 800FSB 512cache(or the 2.8e with 1mb cash is about the same price)

I assume these computers your looking at are base, no option mother boards with maybe a 2.4 400mhz FSB and a simple case.

and i also recomened getting rid of that pc133 even though its a gig and getting some ddr400 even if its not as much. IMO 512 of good fast ram is much better then 1gb of old outdated slow ram.
