My hub installer seems to of came loose on the last "draw" on the hub. The all thread is recessed in the hub bout 1/4 inch. Thought bout drilling hole and use the e-z out or maybe a left hand drill bit. Or, what if I just leave it in there and run a nut down on it, would that be safe, or should I say, would u run it like that on your ride?? The threads are fine, a nut goes right on it. I put oil on the rod, took it back out a couple of times to reoil and check everything and it was fine, just that last little turn got it stuck I guess. Any other suggestions HELP

 

If I understand your problem, take two nuts and jam them together and unscrew it. After it comes out, run a tap in the crank and then use a bolt and washer to secure the hub.

 

That should work.

I don't know if it was in this thread, but I had earlier recommended that the all thread be ground to a taper on the end that goes into the crank. That would keep it from jamming into the end and getting stuck.

 

that wont work, the rod is recessed in the hole bout 1/4 to 1/2 inch. All I can get on it is a deep well socket, both nuts would turn if i tried that, pretty sure. Thanks for the suggestion guys PLEASE keep em coming

 

A slot Dremeled into the end or a nut tack welded on then end.

Also can I ask why you have such a small threaded rod for the install? I'm kinda confused.. Not a flame by no means.

and when you are not putting hubs on, you can use that for a wheel chock. Nice, robust part.

Thanks for all the replies guys. A bud came over (with Bud) and we got the dremel tool out and cut a slot in the end to fit a flathead scewdriver, it turned right out. Budweiser by the way.
