Im to the point in rebuilding my 93 lt1 that i need to put the oil pump in. Is there any special way to do this?

Basically you just put the driveshaft and little retainer/collar on it to hold it on, align the slot in the shaft to the drive mechanism and bolt it on. Torque to 66 lb. ft.
If the drive oil pump cam drive is out, then you don't have to worry about aligning it.

 

Firstly, how do you plan on getting your oil pan off? I seem to remember that only raising the engine a couple inches, and rotating the crank out of the way will do it.
