A4 wont shift at WOT? Please help.

My friend just got a 95 Formula. Whenever you are just driving it normally it shifts perfect but when you give it hell, it hits the rev limiter and wont shift till you let off of it. Also, the car has a transmission perform button? What does this do? Like a shift kit? The car does the same thing weather the botton is on or not. Please help. Thanks

Rebuild time! The tranny is getting to the end of the line.

The 'performance shift' controls a "sleeping" program in the PCM. It just changes over to a more aggressive shift profile. Not as mean as an actual shift kit, but good either way.

And the switch is not causing this. On or off, the tranny is still supposed to shift. lol

It's rebuild time.

How much does it cost to rebuild a 4L60E? My friend is not going to be happy about this.... Is there anything else that could cause it to shift perfect under normal driving conditions?

Exclamation

Depends on where you go.. Could be anywhere from $700 all the way up to $1700.

I got raped on mine... Hard. That's all I'm going to say.

he built a 700R4 (non electric 4L60E) for a friend of mine and it shifts as smooth as butter under light light load and will roast the tires on the shifts at WOT
