What does having T-tops have to do with anything? heh.

You might save 50lbs by getting the A/C out. You won't be happy about that on a hot summer day.

Oh yeah, also let's not forget that the AC compressor is used to defrost your windows too.... Without it, you will have a hell of a time keeping the windows defogged in moist/cool weather.

Acquire a 1LE A/C delete idler. Swap with A/C unit. Plug lines and remove the rest of the A/C hardware at the firewall.


I don't recommend going through with it.

I did it, never used the A/C anyways......twice in the first two years I owned the car, that's it LOL!!!

you may very well need another belt too as the pulley is a tad smaller......do a search, there's alot of info out there

 

I did it on my car too.. The A/C was causing sh** and I couldn't afford to work on it at the time. But if yours is working, I wouldn't do it.



It's the same size belt, BTW.

 

I had to use the defogger (with the A/C compressor) to see out the window at the DRAG STRIP two days ago....


Has little to do with whether its driven daily or not.

mpg,anymore than it already has or will be after all my mods) and I thought I would need a different belt after I took it off.Don't criticize me unless you can make a list of reasons that make the above statement lose it's luster.All I wanted was a writeup.. Mike

50 lbs.... That's great and all.. But in reality you will hardly see a gain in the 1/4. You just won't have your A/C, that's about all you'll accomplish.
A/C only kills your gas mileage when you use it. Don't flip the switch, it doesn't drag... But HEY! Wait a minute. You said this wasn't a daily driver.. What the hell are you worried about gas mileage for?
No. What makes you think that? I hope you weren't thinking you're cutting that pulley out. Because your accessories have to run in the correct direction. You have to get the 1LE pulley, which is just an idler, but needs to be there to keep the correct geometry. The pulley has the same OD as the A/C unit's pulley.

Just looked and its actually 58 3/8 instead of the 59

And you will likely have to replace the belt, especially if it is the original,mine is EXTREMELY loose, I'm going to have to replace it, the reason being is that the belt stretches some over time,not an issue until you put the A/C delete on, regardless of what people say....If you do a search you'll find that I'm right. Or you can just wait till you do it LOL!!
