My LT1 sounds like a sewing machine

I go and start it up in storage, and it ticks. And idles a little rough when the idle drops down to about 850 from 1100.. Now, it started this back last summer the a few days after I put my cat back on. Could this be knock activity? I checked the wires a while back, they where ok. I`m just wondering, could this be a lifter or a rocker? OR possibly, can it be an F`n arc, that sparks only some of the time? Because it runs on all cylinders, just not smoothly. Any input is appreciated. And if any one knows the number to Jason Cromer, let me have it, because I think I might do an opti for safe messure.

Sounds like a rocker could be loose. I would take the valve covers off and check to see if any of the rockers have slack in them. When the engine warms up does the tick seem to go away?

Naw, it`s there when it idled at 1100, but when it went to 850 it got loader and then it started idling rough.

So you put on new exhaust and it started ticking? Sounds like an exhaust leak to me. That would explain your symptoms anyway. Check that out and see if that's your prob!
