speedometer going crazy what could it be ?

Recently my speedometer has been reading way off.

It happens when I am going over 50 mph and when I lay of the gas it jumps down really fast and goes back up really fast.

This is causing my torque converter to lock and unlock back and forth really fast. ( it is suppose to lock up at 45mph)

I have scanned my pcm with my auto x-ray and it did not throw any codes.

I have also watched the auto xrays reading of the mph when i lay off and it drops down like for example to 10 mph and back to what i am actually going to 55 mph. It happens I would say 50% of the time i am over 50 mph.

Any help with fixing this would be appreciated.

Jose`

Chances are your speed sensor is on the blink. Replace it or check that none of the wiring going to it is faulty. Make sure you have a good ground. The speed sensor is a factory part, usually less than $50. Dal Lambert can ship you one for a bit less than the dealership...(just do a search for "Dal Lambert")...
