Have a question about the year of my car??
Ok i say my car is a 95, the vin # reads as 95 on carfax, but my mechanic says the car is a 94 because of what the stickers say on the side of the door. who is right? i need to know so i know what kind of opti to get for my car. any other way of telling?
Yep, the VIN should tell all unless it has been illegally changed. The door could have been replaced for whatever reason. Also, if you look at the bellow on your car it should have a vent tube going to the opti if it's a 95. It should be a small black rubber hose with a blue 90 degree plastic piece sticking into the top of the bellow.

My 95 Trans Am says the says 94 in the door, but it's a 1995 model. Remember many cars of a given year (1995) are built the year before (1994)... around the middle of the year (August), and start hitting the market around September.
I think mine was built in August of 1994 if I remember correctly, and (I wanna say sold the very next month in September 1994). But again it's a 1995 model Trans Am.
